I've been playing the wsop 2008 PS3 game a bit as of late to try out some new strategies. Was wondering if anyone else uses anything like this to practice ideas and their thoughts?

I'm sorry but this made me laugh. I think you are better off playing freerolls than the PS3 game. You need to play against live players....simulations won't teach you much IMHO

Playing against a computer generated opponent you wont learn much cos their moves are all pretty fixed. Play Zynga poker on Facebook its a better alternative with real players.

hell, it's poker whenever you're playing you're constantly learning and adapting new skills, granted it's not as legitimate as playing online but for sure it can still help!

Thats what got me into poker, well i started playing Razz and omaha highlo on there. To be honest I played the game about 1 or 2 years ago on my friends ps2 . And it actually help improve my game a bit. I actually won a bracelet on there after many tries. It takes long, but its a fun game. If it helped me, itll help you in one way or another.

The AI on the game is really bad for Razz and Stud (folds to just about any raise). Omaha might be ok. Holdem is the only game really worth playing for practice in the early stages of poker development. Latest version shows you pot odds, outs and tracks your hand statistics and can be helpful in teaching the basics. However, this game's real usefulness is in teaching you all the game types of poker for free.. anytime you are ready.

I never had a problem winning Bracelets there. I've won POY 3 times :)
