For example, if a part of the time is taken to some kind of stud poker or omaha or badugi, or it will be better to play just holdem.

I guess that always is a good idea to learn some new.
There will be days when you will have a lot of bad beats try to play this kind of poker until that bad beats finish .

Another good reason to learn to hold your own in other games is if you play in any home games. Many of them allow dealer's choice, and you want to be able to adjust to whatever games get thrown at you.

I found Omaha to be a fantastic exercise in board reading that helped my NLHE game quite a bit.

I think it is an asset to be a poker player rather than a "holdem player". Playing other games will help improve how to think about other forms of poker. It also helps break up the tedium of playing the same game day in and day out.

I get what you are saying. If you cant spot good spot good boards you get into major trouble.

You are absolutely right. But I cannot hope to my ability in such games, just to relax as a diversity.

Try different variants and see which ones you like the best.

I always liked lowball and high-lo split for some reason (Omaha hi-lo, Stud hi-lo, Razz).

It is good to learn the variety, especially the limit games as I know I used to find them tedius and take forever but having now readjusted my game I don't mind them as I find I am having more patience on the tables and vary often with limit games you won't get donked or at least not for huge amounts if you wanna play it safe with the bets.

I mostly only play the games in the round1 weekly freerolls on Pstars, which have huge amounts of fish etc but as with most freerolls just play uber tight when all the fishies are in a frenzie :D. If your looking to play for $ then try some 10 game, it has them all haha.

If I could play HORSE cheap or freeroll all day it's probably all I would play. It's not hard to burn out and get a bit bored if you put in a lot of hours at just one game. Variety is fantastic. Even though I still suck at Stud and mostly just have to be a nit.

Sometimes playing a different variant gves you a break from the game you usually play. I play Omaha, preferably hi-lo, as a break from NLHE. I don't seem to take it so seriously, so end up enjoying it more half the time !
