You both have a pair of 9s and a pair of 2s - the K is the 5th card for both of you so split pot. Only the best five cards get played.

The K is the kicker, you both have 2 pair with a K kicker.

Wow that was a grat idea to go all in with a middle pair, think you know he haven't anything usefull. It's a clear split pot, just because you are unlucky with the river.

Looks like you still have a lot to learn if you can't read hands.

Not even sure why we all bother to look at let alone comment on his posts, He joined in August and put up this thread:
https://www.cardschat.com/forum/poker-goals-challenges-wins-46/why-split-pot-229466/

It's now 3 months later and he still doesn't understand the basic concept of making a five card hand??????????? I know we all have to learn, but really three months and still don't know why a pot is being split instead of not?

Lol.

OP is trying to learn. That is what this forum is for. There may also be more to the story....

I know I understand that, and like I said we all start somewhere (although he has been playing poker for 2 years apparently) and just most of the posts lately are LOL considering all the chippies went in the middle.

It seems he really needs to get some basics down, and more or less anyone should learn these before sitting to a table. I sometimes wonder for a second why a pot is split as well having not taken notice of the river pairing the board or something but a quick glance at the HH and its like ahhh that would do it lol.

I had just been looking at the new posts recently and thought for sure had recalled seeing a previous split pot post from him, and figured would point out the tidbit as doesn't seem he is taking advice provided regarding the 5 card hand.

If OP does come back to read the comments just wondering if perhaps you might be posting such a situation perhaps without first analyzing it yourself based on previous thread feedback provided?

Edit: Yes certainly could always be more to the story as well that would shed light.

I forget what my pkts were, But his were 33. So when 2 pair (both pairs higher than 3's) hit the board I won as my cards easily beat his 3. He went on to argue that his hand was better and that the site cheated him by awarding me the pot. With that I was amazed he not only made it to the $, but how the hell he made it to heads up was truly astounding. But surely davygold78, you've had to have seen many examples of this on any day's worth of play. Zorba's answer to your question should clear your head of your confusion.

dude you provide nothing to be constructive about, we keep telling you how to determine a split pot but you keep posting them.

We also keep telling you to provide the hand history for the hand and not just a final screenshot but you don't.

What do you expect?????

Two pair 6's J's with Q kicker. If it wasn't that Q on the river, your 10 would be higher kicker and you'd take the pot.

You can only use 5 cards out of the 7, which is 5 cards on the board and two in your hand.. You use the ones that make you the best possible hand

As ether pointed out in this situation the 5 cards you are using are the two 6's the two J's and the Q so your T and his 5 do not play.

I'm going to chime in here because you've asked this question a couple of times before but you still haven't got this sorted out, suggesting that you haven't assimilated the answers you received in the past.

In Texas Hold'em, every individual that stays in the hand to showdown uses the best five card hand from the seven card "universe" consisting of the player's two hole cards and the five "community" (shared) cards on the board.

In this case, both you and your opponent use a J from your hand and two sixes from the board --- so you both make two pair (jacks and sixes). Both of you also use the Q on the board as your kicker. Because the Q on the board counts as the kicker for both of you, the ten in your hand and the five in your opponent's hand are irrelevant. You were leading until the river, when the Q counterfeited your T kicker and caused the split pot.

Does that make sense?

LOL that is really funny. I guess we're all wasting time here if he didn't learn from his mistakes (better to say learn basics) 4 months later

OP, please stop posting these. It's been explained to you every time, and you're either incapable of comprehending fundamental poker, in which case we can't help you anymore, or you're trolling, in which case it won't be tolerated.
