Why in the world would you ever limp in?

I rarely limp-in, like 1 in a 100. Even if I'm trending towards a short stack. I think it's just a bad idea. Limping-in contributes to a small pot size, increases variance.

On the other hand, when I spot someone limping in consistently, I'm keen to exploit. I almost always with a raise, 2x-4x depending on my position and relative stack. I want to isolate the limper.

If you limp, do you have a favorite spot? Out of necessity? Early in a tournament game? Short stacked?

Go.

i have found there is many times you cant get action ,so limping brings in players that would normally fold

limping AA from early position on early stage is kinda popular

Why in the world would you ever raise anything than QQ,KK,AA? Still can't understand this or your reason was to steal blinds...

I do sometimes just call as well with limpers in front of me. Might be too obvious that I got suited connecters or small pairs then tho.

Do you guys raise those as well with limpers in front of you?

maybe for balance and if there an aggro player in late position who raises alot preflop, you can limp and shove over their raise

I think it has its place like everything in poker.

If you end up with a bunch of passive players that all want to limp, I will limp with hands that usually get folded to a raise... ie. Suited A-rag, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77 and so on. I would only limp with hands that if I hit can turn into monsters like a set or nut flush, just about everything else goes in the muck. Limping too much is obviously a hole and often can lead to winning small pots and losing big ones.

Limping with monsters in EP at an agressive table can land a lot of dead money.

At a limp happy table without agressors, small pp and suited connectors can work well.

There are certainly some hands that I will limp in late position like small pairs and suited connectors. Otherwise I prefer to raise.

It all depends on the opponents with whom you play at the poker table! It also matters what kind of pocket cards you have and the style of playing opponents!

limping is a standpoint, lack of self confidence and/or suspicion about hand value

are we talking about open limp or limp behind? If the question is when to open limp i'd say its in one and only in one case in poker, and that is NEVER. Seriously guys, open limp is probably the worse habit that player can incorporate in his game, it can generate so many troubles in a hand both preflop and postflop, whether youre having a premium or questionable hand youre either losing value of your premium cuz youre missed one good round of betting, pot is smaller on later streets, harder to get all the money in if you hit the nuts, not to mention that thinking player would instantly have you on a polarised range of either uber premium or utter crap, when i see a limper i tag him as a fish instantly, i take a note of what he is doing when he is isolated how often he limp raise how often he limp fold (i also added stat to my hud with it) so whatever trick that player thinks that he can do with limping is either of a short life or dedicated to be pulled at 2nl and do we want to stay at 2nl for life or want to move up stakes, if second, please delete limp from your vocabulary, its for your own good...

I limp in the middle of a tournament once most people are content with their chip sizes. I agree with you about doing it with a short stack!

I very rarely limp. You do not get to the distance at the same time.

If there is an aggressive better to follow me I will limp or min raise and let them think they are taking the lead. Soon as my cards hit and I know I got it I'll let them lead then 2-3x them... P's them off traping like that but when I raise before them they fold out, how else do I get their chips?

I limping with a nice card immediately after my opponents did not raise the bet.
Need to see the flop and to spend the minimum amount.
If everything goes well for me, I will continue to force opponents to go all in to disrupt a good jackpot.

When opening hands like AJ, KQ, KJ or later on in a tourney K10s, suited connectors... you will get to fold alot of players at your table. leaving you in a heads up or 3-way pot. Pots with less players give you a bigger chance of winning the pot (at showdown or on any street)

often you may want to limp things like small pairs if there are limps ahead of you and you dont think you can isolate

you dont want to do this with effective stack sizes under 30bbs
