Why can I not 5-bet all-in here?

So I'm in Middle Position with AA. UTG makes a 3x raise, called by UTG+1.

I make a pot-sized re-raise, therefore 3-betting and coming over the top of both of them.

Then the Button decides to 4-bet all-in, thus coming over the top of me. UTG calls but still has a significant amount of chips left behind, UTG+1 calls and is all-in.

The action finally comes back around to me and my only option is to "Call" the Button's 4-bet, even though I also have a significant amount of chips left behind and cover UTG.

Can somebody please explain to me why I can not make another re-raise and 5-bet all-in here in order to also put UTG all-in?

I know I am probably missing something here but I swear this stupid rule ends up costing me in so many tourneys! I'm not even sure what the exact ruling is or why it exists...

Any help much appreciated!

What was the size of BTNs 4-bet in relation to the size of your 3-bet raise? I believe that the rule is that the 4-bet needs to be more than 50% of your 3-bet size in order to reopen the betting to you.

Thanks for the quick reply! :) I guess it was probably just under 50% then...

I'm sorry, I know I am on tilt right now, but what a ridiculous rule that is! The only way to get around it is if you 3-bet an insane amount more than the pot and give your exact hand away to the entire table.

It's either that or try to induce a large enough 4-bet from one specific player to the left, who hopefully has the exact hand and range and chips to do so, all of which is pretty impossible to gauge.

Seriously though, does anybody else have problems with this rule or just me? I don't actually understand what it is supposed to achieve other than to consistently screw over the chip leader with the best hand.

Yeah it does happen occasionally & yes it can be extremely frustrating when you know that the Villian, is this cause, UTG, might fold under further pressure.
