best way to really learn this is in an omaha Hi/Lo ....2 hold cards used for hand....in HI/LO you may use all 4 two for a high hand and other two for a lo hand......once u get the hang of it ...you are gonna love it......Hang in there

It's because you have to use 2 cards from your hand & 3 from the board, unlike holdem where you don't have to use any

That doesn't make sense. How has he got a straight because he is only using one from his hand and four from the board?

Lol at first I tried playing 3 cards at a time (wondered why my FH didn't beat a Flush) and now this. Guess I got quite lucky that this situation only came up once (and when I was short) otherwise I probably wouldn't have come out winning lol.

2 + 3 = 5 but 1 + 4 = 0 in Omaha

Yah I guess so, LOL. Probably not come out winning for sure when you'd be trying to get your chips in with the worst hand.

funny post, still thinking it's a level

PF fold

I remember the first time that happened to me. Thought I won the hand and I just sat there in disbelief as the money went the other way. Bitched in chat :) Reviewed the hand a million times. Almost wrote support till I read the rules for the millionth time, and suddenly my face got red in quiet embarrassment.

Ahhhhh, I get it now. TWO cards. Oops... never mind.

It'll really blow your mind when you have, say, AKQJ and the board is KT3 and the turn is 3 and the river is 3 and you lose to 22xx. ROFL.

lol it does take some getting used to, so many times I shoved those chips in and when they went the other way, I would have to scroll up to see why.

I found out fairly quickly that you use two of your cards and three off the board, but,
I still have no idea what I'm doing when I play it !

How are you playing that flop and turn though. I can't see how anyone, except a huge donkey, is calling bets with 22xx on that flop. It happens for sure. In NLHE 72 also beats AA once in a while.

This is THE MOST COMMON noob mistake.

You must use exactly 2 cards from your hand and exactly 3 from the board.

Any 2, any 3.

But you have 6 2 card combos to start with, and 10 3 card board combo's.

When you look at your dealt cards, try to have 3 of those 6 combo's look playable. You started this hand with no real playable hands out of the 6 u r dealt.

9
club.gif
, 7
heart.gif
, 4
heart.gif
, A
spade.gif

So your starting hands are;
As9C
As7h
As4h
9c7h
9c4h
7h4h

If this were holdem, how many of those hands would you put money in the pot with? You are playing HU, with complete and total junk here.

Fold that crap.

Keep in mind that each villain at your table is also looking at 6 combo's pre, so at a 6 max table, you are up against 30 combo's before any action starts.
