Both have AA and both share the 99 on the board, giving both players 2 pairs: AA99. For the 5h card, 8 is higher than the 6 and 7 on the board, thus giving the player with A8 a better kicker to the 2 pair. The highest kicker A6 player could have for their 2 pair is 7.

if the river didnt made pair on the board you would have won with 2 pair but because of that he also made the same 2 pair as you and beat you with a higher kicker

I think that hand is an example of what's called getting "counterfeited"

Your pair of sixes were counterfeited by the pair of aces and nines. It's the best pairs and kicker that wins for your opponent.

he wins with kick 8 you have kicka 6, so you have to be careful playing with aces with kick kicks still being off.

AA998 > AA997 winner has bigger kicker

Maybe Ace rag would be a more appropriate term.

he's got a kicker 8's high than your 6 so he won learn the rules dude,without those rules you have no chance in poker,unless you play for fun!

For newer players the rules sometimes might be a bit confusing and so some questions may come to mind, like the question asked here.
And then......ratataaaaaa there's cardschat members who give the full answer in the first 2 replies.
After which replies like learn the rules are not needed imho.
Ofcourse I would advise to learn the rules, but even after doing so, questions could arise and correct me if I'm wrong, but that's one of the things Cardschat is for.
People ask and in reply other people explain......it's really that simple.
