As I am still learning the game, I'd like suggestions. If you had only $50 to deposit, what site would you deposit at and what game/s would you play, in order to build a bankroll.

I've only played pokerstars for money. Since you're depositing $50 their $50 matching funds up to $50 isn't a negative compared to fulltilts bigger bonus and the have lower stakes (at lower rakes I've heard here) The bonus was quite difficult for me to get though as you needed the entire 500FPP or you got nothing. Supposedly FT pays in increments of $10 or $20 as you build points

I deposited $100 and I lost $50 first week playing 5.50 sitngo adjusting from playmoney. I went to penny limit holdem to build back up and won $30 the first weekend. So start slow until you find your strengths. Personally I like 6plyr tables as you are up against less crazies at a time and solid poker will win pretty steadily. Obv Mtts you're only playing for big payouts and not consistently winning so don't put too much there. Try to pick games with lowest rake and highest FPP (SNG with .10 is same as .25 because of rounding) to get your bonus (on PS anyway)

Of the big two sites, probably Pokerstars as they offer cash games at lower limits than Full Tilt.

If you put $50 onto Full Tilt, about the only games you'll be rolled for are their $1.25 SnGs and their occasional $1 MTTs. Pokerstars offers cash games all the way down to 1-2c in addition to comprable SnGs and tournaments, so it'd broaden your options.

and of course all the cardschat freerolls and lowbuyins. I saw you at last PS freeroll, the cardschat competition may be tougher but they have great payouts so see you back there.

If you're still learning the game, I'd say stay away from PS and FT as the games are pretty tough, even at micro(my level also).
Find a softer site............of which I'm not sure, I play a lot at Absolute, which is not the greatest of sites, but the sng's and ring tables at micro are quite easy to beat(so far)
Good luck

certainly be sure to judge a site by methods, timeframe, and also reliability of cashing out for when the time comes. I have read through numerous posts about it here, just do a search for them.

Good luck to you

as alluded to by oz exorcist, pokerstars is a lot friendlier than full tilt to the micro limit player who's trying to build a bankroll from a small amount. they have smaller stakes cash games (starting at 1 cent/2 cent while full tilt starts at 5/10) and the rake is lower. also have the 10 cent MTT turbos with money added

gonna have to disagree with KD about them being tough at the micro level. actually pokerstars micro players are downright awful, and a patient, disciplined tight aggressive style with emphasis on tight can definitely pay off in the cash games (and SnGs too)

maybe I havent played them enough then, and I didnt mean tough as in decent poker players, i meant tough as in all-in with any two cards.agree with you about changing your style, Ive really tightened up there in the early stages of a sng, but I think I need to adjust a little bit more, it just seems to me that there's not a lot of poker going on at these stakes, just wild gambling with runner, runner draws, etc.

I personally like Ultimate Bet for a small deposit. They have 1c-2c cash games as well for every game you can think of. And when you combine all their comps & rakeback, the rake is very comparable to pokerstars.

Fulltilt is pretty rough for a 50$ deposit, as they don't have many games at the limits you'll be playing at.

I'd have to say either Pokerstars or Party, because of the bonuses, and easy game play at there lower levels, yet word of advice be forward at the lower levels ppl don't give a damn

PokerStars has the most players and the biggest variety of stakes. I made my initial deposit there and haven't regretted it. The rake is better than Full Tilt and it has smaller limit ring games than Tilt. Plus they have the best customer support in the business.

If you're looking to play in CardsChat events down the line, PokerStars has the most, followed by Full Tilt.
