Ok so I'm a relatively new player at Hold'em and I was wondering where is the best place I can practice to get better? I currently play Fun Steps and freerolls on Carbon Poker but everyone just all ins every other hand and I don't really think I can get in good practice when the competition is not really playing.

Playing freerolls is not the way to learn anything other than the very basics of the game. Reading books, looking situations up online, practice, and playing for real money are a couple things that will help you get better. Since you are already playing at Carbon and used to it a bit I would say stay there, freerolls no different anywhere else.

The cash games on Carbon are a good way to learn the basics. But don't just play and try to learn from that alone. There are tons of resources that you ought to take advantage of. Watch videos, read articles, and THEN practice.

Freerolls play a little more 'real' the deeper you get into them, so avoid the all-in nutters and hang on in there. Also try some low-stakes single table sit n go's or maybe 30/40 player low stakes games. Playing against players better than you will probably cost you money, up to you if you can afford it. Good luck. I'm on the same journey myself :)

Freerolls are good, survival is the key to success. Dont play lots of hands and when you do play always in position even if you run out of chips waiting

My problem is that I have tried to deposit and I haven't been successful so I can't play at low stakes until I win a freeroll. I have tried reading articles and watching videos but I feel like I don't really know how to apply the resources.

I suggest you try to contribute and join the freeroll club.

Sadly I don't have much to contribute because I suck so much. :p
:) It is difficult to add something useful to a lot of the threads on here when you haven't been playing that long. Reading is more important than posting for newbies.

Bovada is a very good place to start in my opinion. Some very good value Mtts in the $3-$5 range, and loose sngs at $5. GL!

I enjoy the step's on Carbon, I feel that by if you can deal with the first two steps, the third has a decent level of play, of course any freeroll won't have anywhere near the skill level of real money games.

Next time you win a few funsteps, take the cash and try 4NL.
Be a nit and get a VIP point or two and try the daily VIP freerolls.

How many VIP Points do I need for the daily VIP freerolls? I already have several points but I can't find where the daily freeroll is

1 point will do it.
Just look for the Daily $25 VIP freeroll in the tournaments. 9PM EST start, usually around 200 runners...
