Hey there,

I just won some nice amount of money for my bank (1.2k) and rather than keep on taking shots at other MTTs I want to invest some of it on more poker education; as my father always said: "The money you use for education is being invested rather than being spent".

Im on a stake group now where I get two weekly hours of coaching + bank to play SNGs. All the training this guys are giving me is on 18man SNGs so I want to invest on MTTs education or maybe 180man sits.

I saw some sites but not sure about whats the best choice. The kind of educational material that helps me more I think are training videos, specially live sessions and HH reviews, so I think a site that has loads of that type of videos would be grand.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Look for training sites that have lots of reasonably recent videos that are appropriate to MTTs at the level you play now plus the next few up, and of the types that you find most helpful based on how you (like to) learn. The goal is to find one that's a good fit for you at this point in your poker journey. No site is the best for everyone.

there are a-lot of books, sites and so called 'guros' that claim they can take you to the next level. the truth is that no advice is good for everyone.
but i think that the best way is coaching, or just making a lot of mistakes and learning from them

I know that I must find something that adjusts my needs but the problem is that Im not aware of the different training sites since is something new in my poker career, hence, I want yous to tell me which ones you can recommend so I can look after them.

So far on my research seems that Tournament Poker Edge is what fits my needs better but still hearing some other options so keep em coming.

I used to play 18 and 27 man SnG's so from experience so you would have learned a lot already. It takes more skill to win an 18 man than a 180 man SnG. Get holdem manager or poker tracker if you haven't yet. It pays off in the long run.

As for training, I believe first hand experience (playing poker) will help a lot. You can read articles that you search up on google. I could go a bit more in depth on it if you wish about the differences and such. You can also just play at a lower limit to grasp an idea. Most things are the same anyway so it should be easier to get an idea.

The deeper you look, the more likely it is that you'll find a better fit for your individual needs. It's not just about what topics are covered. Maybe you learn better from lectures, or from recorded coaching sessions, or from watching strong players' own sessions, etc. Look for a high proportion of the types of vids that will work best for you.

Beyond that, even when they do the same type of video, different instructors will be more or less effective in conveying the same concepts to you. So look for sample vids, and obviously, look for instructors whose explanations are more clear to you.

As for looking for sites to check out, there aren't that many. Even if all you've done is a quick google, it's unlikely you've missed any major ones.

Can you please tell us more about the stake group? What's the dynamic? How does it work?

The best thing to do is play their limits to consider and read several books, interente, the best way to learn is by playing poker and not make the same mistakes twice.

I would ask the guys that are training you in 18 mans. 18 mans aren't incredibly far off from 180 mans or MTTs, if your coaches are good then they should have some good recommendations of specific instructors.

Thanks to everyone for your answers!

I finally bought a one year suscription to Torunament Poker Edge for $299. After doing some review I decided it was the best deal, a bit expensive though but I get access to TONS of videos, all of them related to MTTs which is the area I want to master.

@Stevepdx: The guys bank us and give us two weekly hours of personal coaching plus access to strategy forum, hand and HH review, etc in exchange of 45 to 60 % of the winnings (depends on how long you stay with them, how many games you play, etc). If you want any more info contact me on PM but I must warn you that is latin american so you'll need to learn spanish. Nevertheless, I bet there are some similar things in other languages.

@HaNz17: I read books as well, and agree with you that trial and error is a great way to improve, but undobutley training videos, articles, private coaching, forum discussion with experts, etc pushes up your game to a new level. Books might get obsolete but training sites keep on putting videos every week made by nowadays top pros.

Thanks again all for your recommendations!

Hi Rama firstly congratulations on your win :) you must be feeling good.
before you spend your hard earned cash on 1-2-1 training or whatever i would suggest signing up to one of the many poker education sites as I'am currently registered on one I won't mention any names as I am unsure if this is allowed but the one i regularly use we have daily training sessions which are presented by poker pro's where all users can see what the pro's are playing or doing and can interact with the pro's and your fellow students and as well as that you have a huge library of training videos and articles. If you haven't already heard of these educational sites pm me and I would happily forward you some links via pm just let me know :)

I've been listening to their free podcasts and a watched a few of their free videos (though those are mostly introductions to a series). I'd be interested to know how you like them once you've tried it out. Do they let you download the videos?
