Hey everyone, I haven't been playing poker long. I am using poker tracker and found that in my final hands my pairs and high cards are bringing me down a lot. I assume that you will always have a deficit with high cards but I need to sort the pairs out.

I would appreciate it if anyone could get any kind of information from these stats that could help me. Also how much do you raise preflop. I am playing 1/2 cent games and usually bet 3 times the bb unless there are a lot of limpers.

Help would be great thanks!

well im going to take a stab at this. maybe your overplaying your pairs? my low pairs i like to see a cheap flop and see what my hand turns in to other wise i usually frow it away. with your high cards, are you continuation betting them because remember you only hit the flop with any 2 cards 33% of the time so dont be betting just when you've hit. for all i know you have been co betting but im just guessing on the info you've given.

hope this helps in some way

If you're looking at final hands and not starting hands, it's normal for one pair hands to be losers. I'm at work so no Db to check but I'll post how much I lose overall when my final hand is one pair later.

Over my 250K hands at 50nl, I am a loser with high card, one pair and 2pair hands. 3.3BB/100 winner overall.

I would not be 3-betting PP, i would only do so in the CO, and button, Maybe the SB, that's a big maybe.
You sound like some of the ones i have played in 10NL rush, think K high, or Ace weak kicker will do it.
2NL takes ABC poker to win.

Low PP we want to see a flop cheap, so we can try to hit a set.

I've had AK in rush and lost with it, a lot of the time, i think haft of the time was from me checking the hand.
I do worst, with AK suited.
AK suited i am ------ in
AK un suited i am ++++ in
Tho i don't know why, i bet both the same way.

:D

To OP, you'd need to play extremely short handed, extremely aggressive games and extremely short stacked games for a single pair to be a winner overall as final hand. Otherwise, what WV said.

Really?

Extremly short stacked would be less than 2 bb's I think, and pocket pairs are profitable long before that. Probably more profitable if you have some fold equity to go with it.

I guess it depends if its cash games or SnG's :)

Op Plays cash. You're really short Stacked with 20bb. With 2bb, you're not shortstacked, you're busto.

Also his question is not about pocket pairs. It's about final hands of 1 pair or less. So yes sometimes that's a unimproved pp and other times it's hitting a single pair with unpaired hole cards.

FWIW I checked my db for my HU play (small 17K hand sample) after Belgo posted last night and even HU 1 pair FINAL hands were not profitable for me. 2pair and better was though (13BB/100 over that small sample).

Um placing to much on PP and AK, AQ, AJ....

PP's has made me more, then 2 pair has.

You still havent read the op, have you?

I did, i also had one other post on my mind.

Thought, we don't know the sample size.
I know my sample size in 2NL is to small, to get any good data from it.

Thanks everyone for your replys! if pairs as final hands are not usually profitable would a feasable strategy be to not bet on them much and to only play two pair or better?

Don't bet to much on low pair cards or better yet, don't play them at all.
