Hi Folks,

I've made a few bad decisions during the last 3 or 4 months when I decided to play poker seriously.

My decision is based on, growing from freerolls and set a solid bankroll. I've earned a "good" cash on freerolls, about 20 bucks. But now, I only have 30 cents on PS and 9 on FT.

Took another decision to try to make it. Only Freerolls, stoped to earn 3 dollars and try to build it from 25 cents 90 players SNG and 1,5 50/50.

But now I have a question. How much would be a good amount to finally go back to the 1 - 2 dollars SNGs and/or MTT?

Any indication of a good BRM book or article?

Typically you should only wager 1 to 5% of your bankroll at a time depending on your ability to replenish the bankroll if you go broke. For $1 tournaments I'd say the minimum would be $20. $2, double it. I'd recommend closer to $50.

If you aren't looking to reload your BR, then a higher number of buy-ins would be ideal. I say about 50 buy-ins for $1 SNGs, 100 buy-ins for $1 MTSNGs/MTTs.

If you have no problem reloading if you go bust, you can be a bit more loose with your BRM, but not too lose. Maybe 35 buy-ins for SNGs, 65 for MTSNGs/MTTs.

I begin my adventure with poker with $40 made live. I have received $20 from PS and begin playing $0,50. As for now it is quite good bankroll to play with.

To play SNG you will need at least 50 Buy-in and for playing MTT need 100 Buy-in and for tournaments with more than a thousand participants need at least 150-200 Buy-in

Hi,everyone. Here's situation- I'm rather new to this game,so I'm a bit afraid to make large bets, but still I don't want to make small bets. During my first game I won 60$, and this planted a great courage within me, but then I lost almost everything. So please, could you tell me,what sum of money will be the best for returning?

Hi J, well, I originally created this thread for the same reason. My point is, I don't like cash games.

Reason: A bad beat would clean my BR off or at least a good amount of it, so, I'm only at FR and SNGs.. Trying to grow a real good BR to start growing on tournaments.

My opinion

I would buy in 50 buks. Its usally the minimum most places let you buy-n for. That gives you 25 to 45 chances to bild your bankroll on 1-2 dollar sit-n-go's. You do'nt want to spend too much time giving your game up on freerolls. Remember when phil helmoth came into poker. He waisted no time heading for vegas.

^ this

If you want to make a proper go of it 100 buy ins minimum is the way to go so that you'll never be playing with scared money and you'll be able to absorb the variance involved with mtt play

Stress tolerance

No poker without immersion. When on the last card your opponent has four of four for your full house with a 3-4% chance, even Terminator will feel a burning sensation from behind. And this will happen several times a day. We must try not to break the monitor in the first month, then it will be easier.

I think it's normal. When you start playing seriously money bankroll can hesitate even more then a just 20$. However You have the same tactics. Built bankroll on freerolls and play some seriously money tournament. It's hard but not impossible.
