When calculating pot odds, do you count the NEXT card (or next two)?

Pot is $23,700
$9k to call

That is about 2.5:1 odds
3:1 is 25%
2:1 is 33%
(I memorized these odds)

So, he needs about 30% equity to call
He has a flush draw at 36% odds.
So, he should call, right?

BUT, do we need to keep in mind next card vs. next 2 cards?
If he calls, there will be another bet on the river (Probably $15k)

Using rule of 2/4, and 9 outs,
he actually only has 18% odds on the next card.
So, he should fold?

You're still just playing tournaments correct?

Not commenting on that particular hand here but in general its safer to use the odds of hitting on the next card into account, as you can get into trouble if you call and miss then face a huge bet.

I couldn't watch the video but assuming both players have adequate stacks left you count just the odds of the next card hitting for that very reason. The exception is if it is an allin or practically one- then you count the next 2 cards.

I understand your problem. You are correct when you consider two cards, that you should call and if one card only, you should fold-based on pot odds calculation.
We have also another odds namely implied odds. Your call on the turn might turn profitable if you can get substantial amount of chips to your opponent if you actually draw on the turn or river.

If you call on a draw on the turn your outs are the same but your odds will double on the river for one remaining card.

@ladybugger, i think the best way is to read about implied odds since you know already about pot odds. It depends upon calling on the turn or river by applying implied odds.
