I play a lot of live poker at local Harrahs and i have found out its best to put an upper and lower limit on my money.I generally play 3-5 NL with a thousand buy in max.If i lose the thousand i go home and wait for another day,if i reach 5 thou or better i cash and do the same. You have to have limits in my opinion to be profitable.

Well it depends on you personally? How good is your deep stack play?

If you ever feel you lose an edge at the table because your too deep? Just leave when you've doubled up.

if your more than able then keep playing til you win more.

I often stop playing a table when either A. All regs/nits are at the table and all the fish have left. or B. I have more than 10% of my bankroll on a single table.

And i'll quit the night/day to take a break or leave when I feel the momentum shift and I start losing hands I normally win.

Also i have a set time before i start and if i'm up within 30mins of quitting time, i'll leave then and be happy.

WHEN TO GET OUT:

I think its not the number of hands but rather reaching your quota or limits of winning or losing money.

I was once advised that you should first of all start off by being honest with yourself. What does this mean? Essentially it means be aware of what you are doing and how well or badly you are doing it. We all recognise this, but the difference is, by being honest with yourself, when you realise you are playing badly, and nothing is going your way, stop playing and walk away and do something totally different...(playing slots or table games doesn't count as something different - it's still gambling!). Don't just keep throwing good money after bad trying to recoup. We all know when we are having a bad day at the felt.

On the contrary, when you are doing really well, forsake all other things and keep playing and make the most of your good streak, table benefits, or just great play. By being honest with yourself, you will be able to identify when you start doing badly.

If you are in any doubt, consider this! You are at a table where other players seem to want to just give you their chips each hand. You hit you preset target of (say doubling or tripling your buy in). Would you really stop and walk away?

Good luck

BB

I think you should stay on the table while you feel you are in a winning position (i.e. many bad players at the table). Once you get tired, or other players are starting to play against your style, then it is time to quit.

Im starting to leave the tables a little bet quicker than before. I notice that once I get a fish or two all in they leave. The seat opens and a new breed of players arrive that may have been watching me from before.

If you think your attention is wavering in ANY way, leave. A single incident is all you need to get up and go. If you had one that should be telling you your head and heart are not committed to this session.
