I'll start with a classic but so hard to actually achieve consistently. "Know when to hold em and when to fold em" if only I could know 4sure.

Another one I've been contemplating lately is "Patience Grasshopper" from the classic kung fu.

I know these are generic but if anyone has any solid advice or tips in short answer form please post here

Patience ( already mentioned)

"If you got'em Bet'em --meaning get it while you can :))))))))

the best tip is to control your money, never play at very high levels.

protect your blinds (especially in tournaments)

always raise if you are playing from the SB, never call (first to act post flop, gotta be the aggressor pre and post)

Play according to your bank, do not get into levels that are not for your bank or you will be left with nothing soon.:ahhhhh: if you have little money do not go to the casino that usually loses everything, you better spend it playing poker

When I was lamenting my recent bad fortune at my local poker room, the tournament director told me - "you just have to make better decisions".

While this is very unspecific, it is the essence of playing poker. There are a million pieces to this advice, but to me, it was what I needed to hear at the time. There are a bunch of things we can't control, but our decisions are completely in our control.

Good luck and god bless.

I think the only tip I can give you is: study, be patient, dedicate yourself and do not want to win the tournaments in the first hands because you will not succeed, I think that following this the results have seen ...

Knowing when is certainly critical but another thought I received recently in a live tournament. I was the chip leader at the final table by a lot, and during a break when all others had gone for a drink the dealer who was a seasoned professional suggested to me that since I had the bulk of the chips I shouldn't get involved in a lot of hands, basically his advice let the smaller chip stacks chase you, you don't have to feed them. Let them destroy each other....and yes this advise has worked for me countless times, online and live...:):)

Here is one which, compared to many others, applies to all variants of the game.

Follow bankroll management.

You can be bad at any other aspect of the game, but nothing will damage you as hard as not following a proper well planned bankroll management.

Call least, raise more, and fold most.
