"7 and 2... aways win" - Paulao, the dealer, in a live poker house that I play
"trust me, hold your cards and trust that it's gonna be ok" - Also Paulao
"the first quads win a beer today" - The owner of the poker club that I play
And "you don't need to be a good racer to be a good mechanic, so don't listen just the pros" - I Don't remember from what book

Poker in general, not just tournaments, is a marathon. Ignore short term results and look at each hand as if I make this play 100 times or 1000 times how many times of those will it be profitable. Then how can you adjust to make it more profitable?

It is necessary to derive benefit from each loss. Analyze the not productive parties and you reveal mistakes which in the future try not to allow any more. Remember that loss, as well as a successful game, is an invaluable experience. In the future it will surely bring you benefit and will cover all earlier suffered losses.

Listen to everyone, Follow noone!

95% are losing players, be an outlier. Play in a way 95% disagree with and you will go far. The last thing you want is to play in a way that gets the approval of losers!

Stop blaming luck, rigged sites other players for losing money. If you're a consistent loser, YOU are the problem. Jonathan Little.

Whats the best advice you have heard from an experienced poker player

Greg Merson told me that he knew when he needed to have it and when he didn't need to have it. Specifically when it came to overbetting, he knew who he could overbet as a bluff and he knew who he could overbet for value.

When you are able to really use the art of betting to get the outcome you want (be it a fold in a big pot or a huge passive on a big hand) then you hit the level of winrate that most only dream of or even claim is impossible.

It's takes a good feel for your opponents and their perception of you as a player, but this is by far the best advice I have every received and I aim everyday to improve my ability to apply it in my own game :)

Learning process in poker: In the first stage, you don’t understand the concepts. In the second stage, you understand what you are doing wrong, but you don’t know how to improve. In the third stage, you learn how to improve at these concepts, but they feel difficult to apply. In the final stage, these concepts become automatic, you can employ them without any conscious effort; they’re as automatic as breathing.

I learned from many experienced players and from tutorials of playing poker to never play the same style for all game with same players, play slow, don't be agressive and give all-ins every time, and often call or check, even if you have a big hand on the flop, when the opponent plays aggresive. You can get him at the river.
But even if you play like a pro, you have to have luck

Hhhhmmmm..... I guess that was "Try lightening the cigarette at the other end!" but as far as poker is concerned it was "Poker is not a card game. It is a betting game."

The best advice I ever got was to only play in games that I know I have an edge over at least 3 people at the table.
