As the title says, what is the one piece of knowledge or the way you play the game that improved your odds of winning considerably?

What piece of wisdom opened your eyes and took your game to the next level?

What is the one thing that made you go from a donkey to a shark?

And how did you learn of said thing!

Feel free to list multiple things though if you like ^^

I reckon if we all list at least one thing all of us might learn something nice :D

Best thing that helped me was playing with some one elses money and having them coach me through deep runs by pointing out places I could have played different right after, instead of hand history reviews. It was fresh enough to help fix it and discuss it in the moment.
So you can say coaching was the number one fix.

When first starting out, you have to realize that everything your opponent does means something. Every check, every bet, call, raise, bet size, body language, and so on.

Read your opponent, not just your cards.

Hi Jancianna,

I saw a guy on youtube (Nanonoko) playing zoom 100$ buy in. And I learned alot about when to raise, which positions are good, you don't have to play every hand, etc.
He explains it more better, after watching him my first tournament improved from losing in the first 10 minutes to 127th of 6000+

For me, my better results starts to appear when I learn to be confidente in my strong hands and do not fold after the sharks raises the pots.

its weird this game to learn it live it breath it.

I thought I knew poker in 2003 and was a winning player in 2009 I thought I was close to as good as pro level players. I took a year off came back about 3 months ago I listened to others watched a ton of video on twitch regular winners why they bet where etc.. started breaking it down went on a nice run online moving up my stacks.

I was sick last week spent time watching wsop reading tells of the players in the 27 and had what I considered tells of each player. I also took time on some more twitch guys that seem to final daily in big amounts. I have played them and have done ok but a lightbulb finally hit last week. I had changed and adapted my game to a new level but I had sacrificed other levels or moves I have in my bag of tricks. I have played 37 years its a great oddysey this game of poker. There is always more to learn. I realized my new adaption made me money but I was still leaving tons of money on the table.

I think if can get to that final level playing a new way and trickling in the old tricks and ways I will become a more complete player.

So my biggest thing I have learned is simple I will probably NEVER be done learning. I have a new way of play but that wont work 100% of the time. Nothing probably will but will say as long as have a little luck a little more patience I will do much better in the long run. I think I am getting to a level that I can be proud of a level where I can see myself being honest with myself moving into some bigger events and standing a true shot at making something very nice out of my effort.

in 2003 i had 24 years of reading books watching what could playing live and thought i was king cause I have a major EGO. Yet to accept that hey this might not be the best way reinventing self over and over and over again to reach new levels the goal is to be even more consistent climb that ladder get to wpt and wsop events.

I am sure is many who want this but will you pay the dues. The goal is not to simply get somewhere its to stay there and give myself the chance on making an impact. Not sure I ever put soo much thought and honesty into my game till now. Hopefully that makes all the difference

I really liked Sit-n-Go tournaments. After reading the book of Collin Moshman - Sit 'n Go Strategy, I have significantly improved my game in these tournaments. Good luck!
