Was wondering what are some useful tips/tricks you use after taking a bad beat.

In the past I would drop down to microstakes and play like a donk going all in on every hand. It would even tilt someone else... kind of a like a bug going around and I was good. But nowadays I'm playing microstakes :(

Take a picture whenever you provide the bad beat. In time you will have a couple of pictures like this and you will get to look at them, that way you will remember not to tilt when you get the bad beat.... Just part of the game.

Might sound kinda weird but it makes me feel better.

I find destroying my laptop helps me stop losing money online really quickly! :p
Still searching for the right answer when playing live though.

Yeah it is difficult to move down when you started so low - just take a break if you think bad beats are affecting your play and come back to it later with a fresh outlook.

Bad beats happen more to better players because they get their chips in ahead more often, so I guess the correct response is to be happy.

Better luck to you! :D

Okay i reading all this....

I play loosely sometimes and blame it on bad beat lol

there is no need to go all in on flop and complain when something else comes on river.. I learnt it recently

ACR and BOL have freerolls pretty often. I go there to relieve tilt. I'll usually build a stack and get bad beat. This only ensues more tilt :) Best answer is to stop playing and do something else. Exercise, have a beer, watch tv, whatever you can do quickly after stopping.

I knew that you were a beast, but how rich are you? What stakes / volume are you putting in that is more EV than your laptop?

Haha, well I got as high as $75/$150 LO8 for a while, so yeah I saved my bankroll a few times with this strategy.

Poker stops being fun when you take enough bad beats at those stakes, so I've just been playing freerolls and tournaments for $2 or less the last 2 years and really am much happier and enjoy the game so much more.

Also glad to say I've been feeding the laptop fund for a while now without needing to replenish it. :D

I already played two years in poker and at a great rate so still not decided as I consider myself not a very good player for a big player ,but it's everyone's business what a person decides for themselves and will do as you like

I like this idea because we always seem to remember the bad beats we take....not when we suck out and win.

Either you realize that it was Bad Beat and continue playing your game without changes, or do not play poker, because This is the basis of poker, and without them you just can not win at a distance, unless of course you are not the most successful person in the world))

Keep the aggression on the bets okay, but if you realize that the villain will not give up so give up

Glad to hear it and good suggestion! Yeah, ultimately, poker should be fun. You need to make adjustments when it no longer becomes fun.

Well, as it was said earlier, it all balances out. there are hands you shouldn't win, but you do. If it busts/breaks you, remember for a bad beat you had the best of it when the chips went all in. As for tourneys, here are thoughts I go through.

1. It is a challenge to get my chip built back up.
2. If I catch a big hand in the next couple, I will get more callers because people think I'm on tilt.
3. If that player beat me on a bad beat, be ready for them to give me my chips back when the time is right.

If you play poker you should know that sometimes you will have bad bets .... it is part of this game .... the important thing is to prepare you so that it does not affect you in a negative way .... analyze if it was because of your mistake? Or if it was luck of the villain? If it was for a mistake of yours ... learn from this lesson and try not to commit it again .... and if it was luck of the villain as luck also plays in poker ..

I started playing freerolls to win some cash. Then started playing micro games. Its a lot of work an time to win. So, I learned more and got on a higher buy in... And with patience, I am winning. Reading the players as well as possible.
And I will love to play here on Cardschat if approved. Lots of good advice on here. But, You need to show me.... Cuz, I hear so much about advice.

For one, stop going all in so much. Sure, your Aces are an 80% favorite! Congrats. That still means you should be getting stacked about 20% of the time.

There is a fundamental flaw in today's game. People always say, "all you can do is get your money in as a favorite" when in reality a you should only be using a move where you put yourself all in in dire circumstances.

Simply put, you are going to eliminate 100% of your bad beats if you wait until the river for this sort of move.

Yeah, bad beats are a part of the game. I always think that the poker Gods owe me one for next time. After I get a bad beat, my bad beat bank account goes up for future withdrawal :)

This has to be the best explanation I've ever seen! :)

I think just remembering this game is supposed to be enjoyable and remaining in a stakes that allows you to not get super upset about the amount of no at you just lost is a healthy outlook. I mean you see dwan and Ivey losing hundreds of thousands of dollars on one hand and it's because they play the stakes they can afford.

I disagree you will eliminate 100% of bad beats by not shoving preflop, that is impossible to do in any situation. Bit having skills to play aces postflop instead of just shoving them every time is a critical skill anyone that's not new to the game needs.

lose enough times you'll learn that it is part of the game, just as winning is a part of the game. No use getting upset about a bad beat or losing. One day your opponent will get the winning card on the river, next day you will. I used to get mad but now i'm over it.
