I have a small roll $46 or so. So im sticking to good BRM and playing only $1 sit n gos. This guys be about 39 buyins. I notice the next step $3 sit n gos would only allow 14 buy ins. So im doing my best to stick to the $1 sit n gos. Anyhow i play about 2 or more $1 sit n gos every night. I havent really won anything yet. (i'm not a great player and sometimes i get impatient and start playing almost every hand), but im trying to get better. buy when should i play cash games or should i just stick to playing sit n gos? What do you guys think about that. I wanna get better at sit n gos. and if i suck that bad at the sit n gos im thinking maybe i shouldnt mess around with the cash games to much because then i will really destroy my small roll. i've lost 10 or more sit n gos in a row (i kept depositiing the min $10, over and over then with these last deposit i was like forget this im gonna stick in like 47 bucks so it'll last longer and ill jsut play the $1 sit n gos, so far i havent lost my 47 dollar deposit yet!) so let me know what you guys think i should do on when or if i should play the micro cash games or wait till my skill improves. Thanks everyone and good luck at the tables :)

if you're getting bored when playing then add another table

if you wanna play cash then play 2nl, you're plenty rolled for it and it's uber soft

if you're sticking with $1 sngs then please say you're playing the 45 mans

Don't play the ring games if you have a tendency to get bored and play almost every hand. Good way to go broke.

Instead of re-depositing that $10 all the time, save up and buy yourself a book or two.

I would also advise not playing for a few days and instead spend that time reading through this forum, especially the Golden Archives: https://www.cardschat.com/f49/

and the SNG Thread: https://www.cardschat.com/forum/tournament-poker-59/january-sng-thread-189641/

There are many hundreds of great threads and posts here at Cards Chat that will make you a better player and help keep you from re-depositing all the time.

Welcome to CC. Enjoy! If you have any more specific questions you just can't seem to find a thread about, always feel free to ask, we are always willing to help.

Read some SNG Strategy articles!!! Trust me... you're playing them poorly if you're even considering playing alot of hands.

Stick with the #1 SNG's and really pay attention to you opponents play. Focus and dont multi task and it will help you do better. After each hand look back at the previous hand, and note what people played to show down or who were making position raises and what type of raises.

playing the $1 STTs isnt a bad idea. If you know how to play them properly they can be very profitable. You have to be very tight in the early stages and especially up front, so you can save your chips until when the blinds are substantial. I wouldnt play the NL cash games partly because since you get bored and tilt easily youll lose just as easily, but also because I find the micro limit games to be much easier to beat. Maybe give those a shot.

There are three things you need to succeed at poker and
the are patience, patience and yet more patience

I play a lot of sit n go's and as mentioned before early
on in a sit n go you cannot play too tight, play only
AA,KK, QQ and AK and throw everything else away

I would advise sticking to sit n go's, $10 will last
a lot longer playing sit n go's than cash games if
you get impatient

read the articles
on this site about sit n go's and ask people any questions
you have, that is what this forum is for

you are well on the way to improving as a player because
you joined this forum and you asked a question which shows
that you want to improve

If you learn to observe what hands other players play and
how much they bet, take notes, you will find your game
improves and your mind will be too busy thinking about what
is going on for you to be bored

good luck :)

It sounds like you have a good plan, and some good advice here. My concern with the $1's is the rake -- is it 20 cents? From what I understand, that is gonna be tough to beat. I was at Full Tilt when in your bankroll position, so not sure what your best options are at pokerstars...

If you do have regular disposable income, why not try the $2's which is a better rake? Deposit a regular amount for the month ($50 if that makes sense) and if/when it runs out you commit your time to reading and learning, until your next deposit date comes around. Would take some discipline to not fire in that next deposit early, though!!

I don't think they have the $2 games at PS. If they did this would be a better route. The $1 games are soft enough to beat the rake if you are a decent player. Much easier if you play at a site that has rakeback(A.K.A. FTP or such) Could try $3 DON and tighten up your game.

It does sound like OP needs to learn more. Do yourself a favor and at least read the SNG strategy this forum has. Poker Orifice has already linked it. Wouldn't hurt to spend $25 for Moshman's book either.

BR management is for winning players to not go broke, but if you are a losing player you will go broke no matter how many buy ins you have.

cash games are a lot tougher then sngs so i wouldn't recommend playing them at all. i think you should look around the internet for an icm calculator, a must have when learning sngs. playing too many hands in the early stages of a sng isn't optimal strategy so i would tighten up and concentrate on your push/fold game in the later stages. if anyone here knows where an icm calculator is located, i think it would be beneficial.

^^^ Cash games are tougher in a sense. If you put a normal SNG player in a deepstack cash game(assuming he has never played cash) he will most likely not do so well. If you stick a cash player in SNG, he will most likely do better than the SNG guy in he cash but will not know how to adjust(assuming he has never played SNG).

I suck at cash and was going to work on being a better cash game player this year. Plan has changed and I am now looking to improve my SNG game. IMO it is much easier to learn proper SNG game than DS cash.

Whatever you decide to do just make sure you stick with it. It is hard to play a mix while learning that is for sure.

Google SnG strategy, and you will have a world of great stuff.

Lots of good stuff here as well. Tips above good as well. If you think your KJs UTG in 20/40 blind level looks good, you need to do some research........
