Tag hands that aren't standard spots and review them after my session. Watch Youtube/Twitch poker occasionally if I bust early for the night. Ask myself why I am doing whatever move I am doing at the table...thinking ahead kind of like chess. Take notes.

I start to learn the opponents tendancys and analyze the patterns of the opponent. I learned alot from James Sweeney at Splitsuit youtube channel. There are plenty of poker professionals that run hand analysis and each one has his own take on any given situation

Throwaway Freerolls

I use what I call "throway freerolls" to learn a new tactic. The best teacher of a new tactic is experience. So, when I learn a new tactic, I play in a freeroll that I know I won't win at and ONLY use that new tactic in any situation it applies to. You'll win hands when applied correctly, you'll lose hands when not, and you'll definitely lose the tournament when abandoning other tactics, but the entire point is you'll learn. You'll learn when to use the tactic and when not to use the tactic instead of slowly working it into your game over the course of months or years and being hounded by mistakes in applying the tactic.
For instance, when I learned about making pot-sized bets instead of 2-3 BB sized bets, I decided I would only make pot-sized bets when raising and did this for roughly 5 tournaments before I got good at knowing when to do it and when not to do it.

Going into a freeroll knowing you'll lose sounds counter-productive, but for me it pays off huge in the long run.

I personally dont study much. Theres no two exactly the same played hands. I check out occasional videos but mostly focus on taking personal player notes.

I stopped studying, as you cannot apply what you learned, until your opponents understand, what you are talking about. They will call every 3bet anyway with 78o, maybe they are just trying a new tactic and throw freerolls away, as mentioned above, CC freerolls tend to be more chasing ACES than poker, so only way is play a lot and try to stay as long as possible.

In addition to playing frequently and reading about poker I like to watch the pros and I try to extract information about what their game is like and how they react to every move.

Hi there!

I am sorry to see struggle, but a step all poker players go through very often.

To answer your question, I think you began doing the right thing, ask questions in poker forums and read strategy threads.

I would advice you to read as much as you can of the following :

- Read more strategy threads
- Read poker articles
- Find basic poker courses like on pokerstars School / Pokerstrategy
- Read poker books

Well, to be brief, give yourself time to learn and space to have new perspectives.

Then, I think you should pick a game you think you are good at it, try to hit the tables and practice with the minimum investment until you show some results, then go for it!

Most important thing is, to set yourself goals and try to figure your priorities, study the game and give yourself time.

Good luck

You need to read articles about the game of poker. And then analyze what you did wrong. We can not know how you play. Can you play every flop and maybe you play tight tightly.

To improve the game, I watch streams. I try to remember how successful players play in this or that situation. I compare the game of streamers with my own. I notice mistakes that I could make.

There are a few youtube training channels for free at your disposal. Gripsed Poker Training has some good videos that he replays some tournament hands and thought processes through them all. Also Twitch Poker is a free tool but be careful because all streamers are not good at poker.

Are you playing cash or tournaments? My suggestion is first read a good beginners poker book. Phil Hellmuth Play Poker Like the Pros is a good starting book. Next time you play, try playing ONLY premium hands, and blinds if there are no raises. This should immediately allow you to start having winning sessions.
