what would you say is the best way to go?

sit n go's , tournaments, cash games ?

and what sort of time process would you be looking at to get to a stage where your bringing in a steady amount
.?

I'd say enter as many free-rolls as possible. Dink a couple of em and grind any small amount you win into more. Once you've done this till you've reached a point where BR management can be applied, do so. It's as easy as that.

You're going to have to invest a TON of time with little return. You're going to have to deal with variance dealing you a bad hand and you running through your meager bankroll in a flash. But, with strict management, it's doable. Play your best games at the lowest stakes, find every freeroll available, and pray.

You should invest something. Sign up bonuses are nice. It takes money to make money. And you don't bring in a steady amount unless you are better than most. There are a lot of players with more experience and some are smarter than you.

put in the game , u are good at!

if you good at playing cash, play cash, grind from table to table.

if good at SNG, just try to max your ROI from SNG

if good at MTT, do u best to win every single MTT.

Well this is how I did it. I didn't start from scratch I deposited $25 and played in free rolls until I won enough to double my $25 to $50 now I'm not talking about the 1000+ player freerolls I'm talking the pokerowned $35 and the springseries leauge or the cardschat all these have less players of better skill. then I played in $1 tournaments or played at a live table won $1 then used that $1 to enter a $1 tournament. When you play the live table win $1-2 then use that money to play a $ 1 tourney you
1. get up from the table having met your goal
now this took quite a while but DO NOT rebuy in the $1 if you get knocked out try again the next day. Understand you will not build a bankroll overnight!
This may takes months I think it took me 5months, but after you make a top 5 the payout will give you a boost I placed 3rd then won a $1 1K $78 and $233 were the payouts. Then played the live tables with my $300 and went to $390 now this is where the luck came I went to the casino played a jackpot game placed a $20 bet and hit for $500 now I had over $800 and played the $1 and live tables whenever I want the other thing I do is play the $1 10 vip point games like the $33, 100K ticket tournys so $10 turns to 100 vip points which gets you into the free seat tounys on sat or if you win the ticket gets you into a larger buy in. So if you sit a live table win your $1-2 as your buy in to the $1 tourny dont rebuy but add on you have a $2 investment of won money and just keep swinging away till you do good. dont play the large freerolls but the small ones to build your BR it will take a long time but if your disciplined you can do it!

There is no good way to build a BR from freerolls. They're all bad, so it's really a matter of what's least bad. While your game is at the newbie stage, your average win will be pennies per tournament, so even multi-tabling won't get you to a decent win rate per hour. So before you even try to build a BR by freerolling, make sure your expectations are set accordingly.

In other words, just make a deposit. its more fun that way and you can win more with the same effort while playing better poker.

Hi,

I will tell you my story. I started on 888 4 months ago from zero and actually never deposited. As a begineer I only played freerolls as much as possible (since it was the only thing available for me). After some small ''in the money finishes'', I managed to go deep into one freeroll, and finished 2. earning $6. Since then, I never looked back and started playing small DoN (Double or nothing SNGs), as small as 55cent and later $1,1. I had a feeling for the game and soon enough built my bankroll up to $50. Nowadays I have almost 1k profit on 888, and looking to make a transition to cash games.

This is my story, but if you have any start-up capital, you can try micros 0,01;0,02 and grind a lot. Plenty of fish out there, especially on 888. BUT the most important thing, if you are just starting with poker, try to read some books(my recommendation : ''Harrington on holdem'' will teach you everything you need to know if you are beginner)
and play solid tight-aggressive style from the beginning, later you can loosen up a bit if you feel comfortable enough.

Cheers;)

I did the freeroll thing but it was many years ago on FT and at that time
they were doing 2500(?) people not the mega 5k 10k entries they do now.

It was very hard and took a long time but I did build a decent bankroll
(most of which is now in DOJ hands)

As others have said it is difficult and VERY time consuming so you might
want to make a deposit and go from there BUT

it is VERY satisfying to do it without a deposit.

Just my 2¢

Get a job.

Think he means poker bankroll.

And honestly, it depends on what you prefer. Over summer last year I built a br from 50-2k in about 5 months from sng's/mtt's, and I know people who've gone from 200-10k from cash in similar time frames. All forms of poker are profitable, just pick one and stick to it.

Get a job.

+2

Put money in, read books.
All I hear is, it's getting harder out there in the pokerworld so it means you need to be even harder.

I agree it's hard out there and you'll need income to help support your teething stages.

I know what he meant and I still think the easiest way to start a poker bankroll is to get a job (mow a couple lawns or whatever) to earn the initial BR. So earn $50 or $100 and deposit it rather than wasting your life away trying to start from zero.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^, depositing does not prevent you from playing free rolls, if you really can't find a good way to waste your time.

More like "make an informed choice". If people realize it will take a lot of hours to make a few bucks and still choose to go ahead, I'm not going to tell them not to. What I've seen over and over again though is people who either have highly unrealistic expectations as to how quickly and how much they'll start winning, or who simply haven't thought about how many hours it will take to win even a few bucks.
