Hi, me again with the silly (read it as NOOOB) threads.

Since I've started playing, everyone tells me, DO NOTES ABOUT YOUR OPPONENTS.

Ok, I usually write some dumb plays that they do, like monkeys who keep shoving to steal 80 chips blinds.

But when I read some comments about it, there are lots of other notes made. What exactly should I mark on a player, and how to use notes in my advantage?

If you playing microstacks, you do not need notes because all the necessary information you will find in your HUD. Learn how to use stats in your HUD at first, then you yourself will understand how to take notes.

I particularly do so ( example): '' limps with A and suited hands '' . It is good because it is easier to find out the range of opponents

I would make notes on any hands you see him have at showdown or he shows and how he played the hand from what pos, what open size or call and what he did on every street. Also whether you observe any open sizes based on hand strength. Any timing tells that he demonstrates on a regular basis.

Comments like:

Calling station
Draws to inside st./river
Will fold to 3 bet
or
Loves any semi-suited hand

might help, but I always date them:

Raises UTG with any ace 9/30

The reason is because players learn fast and that note might not be valid in 30-45 days.

Hi NKGB, it's not a silly question at all, I don't take a lot of notes but I would be interested in what other members suggest.

I make notes about that player's style(tight, agressive, passive etc) and about some moves that he did,so if he does them again i will know what they mean(like weird bets).

Ever try a HUD?

One of the things besides reading a lot was to download a HUD. That alone helped me understand odds, position, and more importantly patients! I highly suggest trying it out. It can be confusing at first but stick with it and I guarantee it will help you improve your game.
