I'm wondering whether i'm at a disadvantage by trying to play too orthodox especially the weak Ace or Ace rag if u prefer....I've noticed that alot of players play really aggressive with ace rags and it works out quite well...as for me i tend to fold ace rags even if their isnt a raise in front of me whereas i see tons of plays going ALL IN with then....do u think this is a loop hole in my game?

* Should add that of course i play it/all in when i'm desperately low stacked

depends on the game, depends on the position, depends on the style of the table.
AX can be an awful call on some tables and others you can own it.

I've opened up my ranges to include a lot of Axs hands. The suited is the key part so that I can flop the nut flush or the nut flush draw. So far it's worked out quite well and they're some of my most profitable hands.

I would say its fine to play ace suited borderline 6/7 in position on 6 max tables, 9max you will need to be more selective with your calls and raises.

The more skilled you are the better you can play ace rag, since you can always represent different hands or use it effectively for a semi bluff with the added benifit of having some equity and picking up a hand on the turn/river when it doesn't work out some of the time

I play week aces, but not all in. I look at the flop and when I hit an ace I call only small raises or raise myself a small amount. And preflop I don't call any raises and especially not when the ace is not suited.

If you're better than your opponents, you can widen the range of hands you play. The greater your advantage, the more hands you can play profitably. BUT you need to have game first. Just adding Ax and other modest / marginal hands won't make you better or a bigger winner. Indeed, adding them before you have enough game may well be counter-productive.

thanks guys......I think i need to widen my range a bit to include Ace rags because i see that it works out good for others...my worry with Ace rags is always 'what if I hit the Ace' then then there is always the worry of me being out-kicked and getting caught up in the hand..thats i tend to play A10 and above preferable suited too

Dont add hands into your range because you saw that someone win with them every now or them, that doesn't mean that they are profitable to play, i saw a flushes made with any two suited cards, specially at micro, does it mean that you should play the hand because it is suited? This maybe a bad example but it can be related with this, both of those type of hands can be easily dominated postflop first and most with kicker issue, it is not problem to try to steal, re steal, squeeze or play aggressive with Ax, problem is how would you play them post flop where you can be easily dominated, specially if you face reg...

I would advice fold any weak ace suited or not when you are EP in full ring, later try to steal, re steal or whatever but dont involve in big pot with them it is bleeding money longterm...

CONTEXT. PERIOD. It depends on chip stacks/ tourney level, players on table. ADJUST TO THE TABLE AND PLAY ACE RAG BASED ON THAT. THERE IS NO DEFINITIVE GUIDE ON HOW TO "PLAY" THEM.

I don't actually think they are good hands. When you get the top pair, you don't really get to know well where you are at, it can get you into trouble and make you lose more than you can win.

Not ace rag off but when you're holding, let's say, Ah7h and the flop comes down 2h 3h Ad you're totally in the driver's seat and you can play aggressively and in control, no?

How could you not like a hand that has the potential to play like that?

Using PT4 and reviewing my hands there's absolutely no question that including these in my arsenal has increased my winrate. None whatsoever.

Personally, i will only play a weak ace if i'm the b-b, and there is no raise. I never call out of position with them, unless i am short stacked, and they are suited, which granted aren't much better than unsuited a-r. What are you going to do if one does hit the board? Faced with a healthy bet, you would probably have to let it go, and there went good chips down the drain. A-rag i believe gets more players in trouble than k-k, so [this is only my humble rookie opinion], i think playing a-rag will get you in more trouble than not. Yes, it seems like other players play them and win with them, but what does their bankroll look like? I would wager not good. I would rather have 2-2.

22 and A9s has roughly the exact same equity. Just saying.

This statement says almost nothing. What does it mean? 22 and A9s is a coinflip HU, which isn't saying much. 22 is a coinflip HU vs. 2 random cards.

That 2 hands are a coinflip vs. each other does not make them roughly equal strength.

In early position in a 9-10 player game, what Ace X would you play (call) with. Suited and Unsuited. 1/2 live no limit.
Right now its been A7 suited and AT unsuited for me....should I tighten up?

I will play A x hands. I usually play them if I can cheap and they are suited. I will play them unsuited if I can limp in AND it is an A + 2, 3, 4, 5 so it does have some connector value. I tend to fold A 6 through A 9 most of the time. They can pay off. They can be very dangerous when played wrong or over aggressively.

Playing these hands well and in appropriate situations will increase your win rate. Just playing them without being sufficiently selective about when and how is likely to have the opposite effect.
