Ok lets pretend were in a cash game .05/.10 w/ a full stack of $10.
Villan has stack $7.
All folded to villan, who raises to .30. Folded to us in the BB, which we have Ah 8d. We decide to call.

Flop: 2s 8h Qs (pot: 0.65)

We check. And villan bets .10. Easy call w/ middle pair (does villan put us on a flushdraw bcos we just called?)

Turn: Jh (pot 0.85)

We check again and villan bets .40.

Now my question is down this line is villan protecting his hand bcos were playin so passive he thinks were on a draw? Or is he jus betting a bit more on the turn bcos were check/calling.
I see this so much in the micro limits that I think people are jus bluffin the turn w/ a larger bet to try and get u off a hand.
I also think at the micro limits that these ppl put u on flushdraws too easily if u check call a double suited flop (Th Jh 4s).

He might be a small ball player.. just play with him with a couple of hands..
and observe if his a small ball player..or maybe he has a pair or a queen..
by the way.. did you fold?

Yeah I did fold but this hand was tottaly made up. Jus used it as a scenario.
But yeh I never thought about too see if he is a small ball player or is he jus vaule betting his Q. Mayb he's got a hand like Q9,QT..

Hmmm WVHillbilly folding preflop is probs the best way since the kicker is crappy and OOP. But are u only calling in the BB against a loose persons late raise w/ hands like ATs+/AQo?

I'll call wider than that. In general I'll call with SCs and QJ+. Axo just plays poorly OOP.

I would had played this hand only if i knew he is a LAG player. I would had reraised the flop to see where i stand. Usualy if they had it donks will go all in and it is an easy fold. If fe calls than u preety much done with the hand too cose there are too many hands that can put you in trouble. Do not try to put a big bluff here cose if he slowplayed u or he has 99 or TT and he is a calling station you will pay badly.

Against an unknown, I'd check/raise this flop with the intention of bet/folding the turn.

This does two things -
1. Establishes a history with the villain.
2. Folds out unimproved hands that beat us, and lets us represent the Q.

His flop bet is lame. Sure, it's a big blind, and we like getting BBs. But if we're in this pot out of position with A8o, well, what the hell were we hoping for? We've already called with a loose range, we might as well play this pot aggresively to try and take it down with 2nd pair Top kicker with some tricky play on the flop.

In my opinion, loose passive is bad, we are not likely to get paid off when we improve because we establish a history of check/calling until we have a hand we believe best, then once we start betting and raising it is obvious that we have improved.

This is the easiest player to avoid dumping to, especially if you have a read on them like "doesn't bet with less than top pair or an overpair." One of the players at my live game out here is like that, and I took his stack about four times last night.
