Ohk, so I am curious to know if any other country/place plays the variant of poker that we do in Jamaica. Unlike like Texas Holdem where a player is dealt two cards, in this format three cards are dealt. Upon all the players receiving their cards preflop, players decided if they want to bet preflop with the player under the gun being the first to act. Next comes the flop, unlike texas holdem in which the betting three cards begins after the first three cards, in this version of poker two cards are instead dealt (so i guess two cards would be the flop instead of three), at this point betting can take place if one chooses with the player under the gun always being the first to act......next a third card is dealt....betting action continues....then a fourth..betting action continues...then the fifth and final card is dealt........... the best five combination of card wins
Now I think this game is much more dangerous than Holdem because being that a player holds 3 cards instead of two a much wider combinations of hands are possible. Let me give a few examples to ensure clarity.
Example #1. player 1 is dealt Ad Ah 9s player 2 is dealt 9h 9c Ac
and these community cards are dealt in the hand: AS 9D 6H 2C 3D
now both players would have a full house. Player 1 would have 3 Aces and two nines (aces full over nines) whereas as player 2 would have an inferior full house in three nines and two aces (nines full over aces). Can u imagine that a full house where the board didnt pair? (Not a possibility in holdem). Now thats just the example of a full house hand so u can just imagine the straights, the flushes etc etc
Now this is the poker that I play cash games for on a day 2 day basis. So when I started playing holdem and other poker variants I had to adapt a little not much thou. Do u guys play or have ever seen this type of poker?
