Hi. After making two donkey calls with an under full house on a two paired board in six max I said I would never make that mistake again.

In the very first hand in a low stakes heads up sit 'n go today I ended up with an under full by the river and I'm not sure if I played the hand right or not.

I call a pre-flop raise with 7 5 on the button. Flop comes Q 8 7. Villain checks, I check. The turn comes 8. Villain bets pot, I call. The river is a 7.

Villain bets 2/3 pot.

As it's the first hand, the pot is small in relation to stacks. I'm thinking, if I raise and he shoves, I'm in a bad spot. I just call and villain shows queen jack and I take the pot.

I thought afterwards it was a mistake. I maybe should have raised and would have got a call from a Q and if villain has a 8, it's a cooler heads up. What ya think?
Cheers.

I think you played well, you were by little, the hand was not so profitable, because it was in the beginning and how well you were saying you can not make much difference! The only question that I would make is that in the end you would have to have risen more since if paid is because he had a game! Except this last the rest was good

The only thing I would have done different would maybe be to bet the flop. He checked to you, use your position and make a semi bluff?

I'm new to the whole tournament poker thing though, so if this is a bad move, someone let me know!

I think this time the way it played out there was nothing you could do really, except folded pre-flop... after the flop it was all standard

I was thinking pretty much this, as on the first hand even if it was 75s I would probably be tossing those in. But I am certainly no expert and have been told I play too tight.

Thanks guys. It was heads up. 75 isn't getting folded.

Definetly was a good choise . From the button with 7-5 hmm , good . Probably if you get raise he fold so was a very good option to let him bet . Well played !

Seems to me you utilized excellent pot control in a situation that clearly called for it. Without a really good read on your opponents range, I think you got it right. I mean, if it were an MTT you could have faced the overfull and been gone if you called or doubled up. If cash, it might have paid in the long run to raise and call a shove (would the number of times your underfull is good make more money than the times you lose to an overfull?), but I don't get into cash much. Even then, when your hand is vulnerable and you have no info, pot control is the way to go, right?
