U.S. Poker Market and hourly rate
After playing for awhile, I notice that U.S. poker sites
are not very active. I really wish I could play on poker stars so I could build my bankroll through sngs. Sngs are basically dead, from what I have noticed. Player traffic is horrible.
For an experienced player who is confident in their ability, is it possible to make poker into a part-time job? I think it may be possible; however, the struggle is oh so very real. I have been playing microstakes and I am a consistent, winning, poker player when I am able to squeeze myself into an sng. I feel that cash tables will be the way to go. There is much more activity on cash tables than there ever is in sngs.
I prefer single table sngs. I specialized myself into learning how to play them through various resources and am highly confident in my ability to beat them. My bankroll is currently at $37. If I attempt to play on cash tables, I could lose that money to variance and partially due to inexperience. I attempted to play on cash tables and won a bit. I read about the use of a hud and used one for about a month. I encourtered a little bit of varience so i stopped because i did not want to go on tilt or find myself in a 20 buy in down swing. My trial hud expired and I decided to stop playing on cash tables because I do not wish to ruin the small bankroll that I have made for myself by playing in freerolls
Are cash tables the way to glory? If they are, where is the sky? Where is the limit? Is it possible to make an excess of $30/hour or is this simply an unrealistic dream for a U.S. player?
I am pretty sure the bankroll to even reaching such an hourly rate is tremendous for a person wishing to make a bankroll from scratch. I could see myself potentially getting to such a bankroll by using an aggressive bankroll management strategy for sngs... (base: 30 buyins; play until you have 30 buyins for your level and an extra 10 buyins for the next level.. eexample: $33 for $1sng + $22 for $2sng); however, this seems to be impossible since there is very little traffic for sng players. I was hoping to eventually move to hyper turbo hu sng with a roi of 2-3% (hopefully haha) on the $0.50 hyper turbo hu sngs on full flush
poker when I reached 70 buyins, but I don't think I will have enough action to reach a strong hourly rate I desire. I realize that the $0.50 sngs will not produce a strong hourly rate. I'm referring to my grind to a desirable hourly rate (mid stakes sngs).
