Good morning all. I'm looking for your expertise. I had been pushing this table around quite a bit all session so most players had switched to what I would consider tight passive play. In the hand posted below, how would you have built the pot?

Thanks!

pokerstars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (9 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://flopturnriver.com/

CO ($2.43)

SB ($2.33)
BB ($5)
UTG ($1.15)
UTG+1 ($2.20)
MP1 ($4.58)
Hero (MP2) ($3.45)
MP3 ($1.77)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 7

Flop: ($0.21) 2

UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets $0.10, 2 folds

Check

On that flop i would normally check back because you got top set so giving a free card can be profitable to extract value on later streets because you should know that on that flop they probably don't have much.

However if i got any sort of information on them being calling stations then a small bet can be put out on the flop and further streets ofcourse but since you mentioned that they were passive tight players then thats the perfect reason to set them up and check back. Don't worry you'll get em next time.

Both opponents limp-called pre- then checked the flop. If your read is correct, they seem most likely to have either high cards but not good enough to open-raise, or a small to mid pair. Such holdings aren't very likely to improve on the turn, so checking in the hope this will happen is a low % play. Checking in the hope one will improve enough to play a big pot is even lower.

So basically, this is a hand where I'd only be looking to extract one street of value rather than to build much of a pot. I'd probably check, but the main reason would be to increase the chance of getting that one street.

Raise more pre ~10c

Disagree with checking the flop back, I'd actually bet more on the flop, if they are going to call then calling 15c or 10c doesn't make much difference to them. And if, as you suspect, you have an aggressive image they probably expect you to cbet a lot. Just bet bet bet imo, people love calling at 2nl

Thanks guys. My read was that they would have checked preflop with at least Ax Kx so I was hoping that they would have called at least one street to see if they could make top pair. After the double fold I was thinking maybe I should have only bet 2 maybe 3bb or checked. Decisions decisions.
