it depends on your table image. It depends on your opponent.
Can you get your opponent to ship if you check or show weakness?
Are you loose aggressive, mixing it up, getting involved in a lot of pots?
Generally it's hard to trap a good player.
"Traps" you are talking about are probably coolers.
set vs overpair
Nut flush over K flush
Boat vs Boat(or quads)
Depends on the stakes too. At the micro stakes, no real reason to trap. They will call you down with 2nd or 3rd pair. They will chase their draws.
Microstakes, when you have it, bet bet bet. When you don't have it, check.
Let aggressive players bet when you have the nuts. Against tight or passive players, bet them relentlessly.
Piece the hand together. Some fish will jam the river when they miss their draw.
3bet in position a lot perhaps. be prepared to fold marginal hands but eventually you're going to get AA KK or AK and blast them off.
