In another thread I was told I shouldn't play cash tables (I am a beginner), but rather tournaments. But I have the feeling, that it is quite hard to get in the money there, since there are so many players and only a few win something. So is it really better to mainly play tournaments?

my friend, tournaments and cash is 2 different games! choose that more you like, like! It is hard here and there! But in the career you will still cache and play and tournaments! Therefore, your skill will play a key role! I think sooner or later you will find yourself! But you should definitely try the forces in both games! And that will get better there and play!

if you have more money i think better play cash table first, because tournament is more difficult. if you lose your chips in tournament you cant easyli buy in as in cash table. if you have tight budget for practicing poker, you can play freeroll tournament, its free and you can win real money. like cardschat freeroll this very help us as a begginer in poker. keep playing...

If you are a beginner, play freerolls and then gradually move to smaller stakes cash games. And once you start winning games & think that you have developed a certain amount of skill, go for the cash tournaments.

First of all, zipz, welcome to Cardschat if I missed your introduction. All of the above is great advice, and opinions. I will only say the same as some. Try them both and see what's better for you. But in the future you might want to learn how to play them both, because one day you might not be doing good at the cash tables, then you can play a MTT and might do better, or the other way around. But the bottom line to start at the bottom and work you way up slowly, one step at a time. GL to you

Isn't Sit & Go like a tournament?

A SNG will typically be 6 or 9 handed tournament. I would definitely suggest starting with SNGs over cash games. Same rules, but the way the games are played are very different. You have to experience both to understand what works best for you.

Yes, SNG. where better to play on the 9 people, 1 table. Winning is not great, but you will learn to play the advantage.

Okay thanks! I didn't know that there are 1 table SNGs! I only played the 0,02$ SNG at pokerstars with 990 players.

Try them both and see which you prefer to play then focus on that game.

First and foremost is of course the time you can devote to the game. Playing to the cache, you can regulate the duration of the session and to get up from the table when you want to take a break of half an hour and continue the game. Tournaments also mean a long stay in front of the monitor, during which you will not get to go to the shop for cigarettes. The only thing you can expect is a five-minute break at the end of each hour. So if you are willing to devote to poker a couple hours a day, you should choose the cash

Better 0.25 / 45 and 0.25 / 90 users. On the other tournaments large dispersion.

cash or tourneys??

I started with the SitnGo , logic. After 4 months looking at my stats and wins and losses. I feel beginning with SitnGo's is tough for a beginner because of the crazy variance. Cash games , in my opinion is a better way to gauge your progress.?? Does anyone else feel the same?? I play freerolls and I am starting some Micro MTTs. My daily grind is cash for now.

Personally, I think cash games is the way to go. You can simply sit and wait for a good hand and play aggressively. In all other formats (MTT, SnG) the blinds move and force you to play hands. It takes a lot more skill for a game where the blinds go up because you have to open your range.

yea, I think you should get your experiences from cash games first. then once you have all those hands, wins and losses, raises and bluffs, it can be easily applied to tournaments.

Read as many poker books as you can get your hands on. Tournament poker and cash games are two very different animals. If you make a mistake in a cash game, you can just reload. In a tournament, a mistake can cost you your tournament life.

Playing tournaments and sit n go is a good way to start building your bankroll

After having a bankroll big enough if you want can start in cash games, the recommended for micro limits is more than 30 Buy ins

cash start at 01/02 see that your happy with results i like 9 people tables if playing cash sit and goes are great freerolls great and small buy ins great depending on guarantees. Find where your most comfortable. Me im an MTT player ive went up to 5/10 in past but the only time I get a rush in poker is in a large MTT event late when get chip leads etc.. so play mtts way more then anything am interested highly in the new 2.0 sngs on wpn networks for .69 cents can see self playing a ton of those

So you cache is also not the fact that you get something... Try it, and decide that is more interesting for you, easier, and liking - and enjoy
