So far in almost every tournament i've played on ftp, the first few hands are guaranteed to get people going All In. Not just one and usually a few who had nothing to warrant it
I get scared off and fold. But it irks me to see the winner get a huge win with a hand i could have beaten and if im honest i then get timid against that player, on account of the huge stack and aggressive play.

Is that the reason they do it? Or is it a 'do or die' poker mentality that makes sense in tournaments?
Am I being a chicken about this?

i usually see this in freerolls or small buy-ins or play $$$,when they have little to risk, get in some real $$$ bigger tourneys and this usually stops this kind of play, you can either follow suit and call there allins and maybe win a big pot to start,or just fold till the madness stops

Gday, No you are not been shy, and yes this does happen a lot, but you will find that these players are also the ones that go throwing their chips around after they get their first big pot. You wil also find that they will lose all those chips as quick as they lost them. The best thing to do is watch what they play from that point on, then make your move when you can.

Yeah it does happen quite a bit in freerolls but it stops after the first few rounds more or less. I will go all-in with with them if I get the QQ's, KK's, AA's or AK's. Otherwise just stand back and watch the fireworks.

here are always some that go all in no matter what they have in the sma; by in and especially the freerolls. I guess they think that thy have nothing to lose in a freeroll as they probably do not take it seriously.

Oce the blinds have gone up several times, the number of these people diminishes and you got to some decent playing for that kind of tournament.

I generally sit back and wait for them to lose out but rarely one of them gets under my skin and I wait until I have a good hand and call. Most o the time I actually have the better hand but you can get sucked out on alot.

Just play your game and let the others beat each other up. Your time will come later.

yea it happends alot at the freerolls or smal buy-in ... they are going all in to make a stack , after that they are playing only good hands . you need to stay back and wait for a good hand .

all in is all out

I see this alot and in some of the big freerolls with many registered players. And to go allin first few hands is just asking for tournyment death. Sit out wait till pple settle down if you want to finish in top half or better. Sometimes I am even guilty of making an all in call first few hands. If my hand is strong and I'm not realy feeling like I want to go the distance in a particular trrny. So go Big or go home. nothing ventured nothing gained. But that is just my complacincee. But Realy If you want to suceed as a mtt player this type of play you must avoid at all costs. Esspecially in a cash buyin with rebuys and addons. Because some players will play very aggressive untill rebuy and addon period is done just because they have unlimeted funds to rebuy. So never go all in at the beggining of a mtt, the blinds are just not worth ending your tourney early. Good luck and hope this might have helped. Bigbigbucs

The most frustrating part is that big starting hands become useless in these scenarios.
Although it may still theoretically be the favourite,
adding together all the others makes 'one from the others pool' more likely to win.
