What in your opinion is the is the differance the strategies used in tournament play and cash games? know that there is because i seem to cash out and in my opinon i am a decent tounament player. When i play cash games its a differant story it seems like i cant play poker at all.- Do you think a good cash game player should also do good in tournament play or does tournament play help out the cash game play.

It's definitely the other way around. Being good at Cash will help your Tournament play. If you are a strictly Tournament player looking to make the transition into Cash Games, I would definitely recommend studying and starting low.

I could literally right pages on this but I will try and keep it concise. One of the MAJOR differences is blinds. In a tournament you are forced to change your range, and forced to make decisions over a period of time. In cash games the blinds stay the same so your strategy can effectively stay the same.

Another major difference is the reload option. Of course some tournaments have this option as well. Your strategies are adjusted during a tournament each time the blinds change because all of a sudden even without losing a chip you have less big blinds and are now making decisions based on fewer big blinds.

There is also different calculations for tournaments that are not relevant for cash, such as ICM. There is a lot more variables that go into tournament play. This makes tournaments higher variance than cash games.

However a good cash game player will pick up tournament play faster than a good tournament player will pick up cash games. This is because cash game players already have a wider skill set than tournament players whether they know it or not. One main reason is most cash game players play all three streets of poker and are generally more deep stacked. Also the field will generally overall be easier (softer)

Tournaments progress and end with a winner. Cash games are a grind that end when you leave. I prefer tournaments, taking one down feels awesome.

They are two different worlds in the same game.
The cash player will learn to play better poker, learn more about the game, the textures, when to bet, when not. With each hand that plays learn.
The tournament player will learn what his hand is for in certain situations of the tournament. When it suits him to push and when not. And other dynamics of the tournaments.
If you ask me, a cash player can learn the necessary modifications to play tournaments (which are not few and require a large study) but on the other hand, if a tournament player wants to go to cash, well there is more difficult. I think that for the player of the tournaments, unless you have a very advanced knowledge of the postflop game, it will be like re-learning poker.

Tournaments and cash games are very different in structure. I've been playing cash games for a long time, but now I'm playing only tournaments, often MTT, rarely SnG.

I play tournaments and cache games and for me there are no difficulties playing on different tables in cache or tournaments, I notice in tournaments many players play constantly in all-in on good cards such as with AK-AQ-AJ, and in cash games players try to catch more combinations with such cards and then play, so I think that if a player knows how to play well in tournaments then this will help him in the game of cache, but you need to start playing the game cache carefully and at small stakes!

Tournament gives you the opportunity to develop your game easier than the cash games. Tournaments require a buy in and you play for hours. This allow you to unwrap your game easier. Tournaments need more time. The more time you have in a game, the less luck you will need. So in cash games you need more luck

My personal opinion will be different. In tournament games, it's harder for you to read the player. When you play a long time at the same table with the same people it's easier, you understand what to expect from them. When you play in a tournament every time with different people it's harder. And by the way, no one remembers the players in the cash games, everyone remembers those who won in major tournaments, and this is more difficult a million times and each new plays differently. In addition, all the tournaments are different, if it is turbo there is generally mainly about luck. And all calculations do not matter when the river drops the right card. In tournaments you need to think quickly, and in the cache games the opposite. In any case, you need to participate both there and there, and you will immediately understand the difference and what is better for you. In tournaments I spent 14 hours and did not get anything, whereas in the cash game I could double in 2 minutes. but I think that in tournaments I was getting a lot of experience especially in the final stage of the draw

Tournament play everyone starts with the same amount of chips and are on an equal playing field and have the same destination.

Cash games you can enter the game with some players having more chips than you can buy-in for. This makes for a more challenging game to overcome if you are short stack at the cash table. These guys will be willing to take shots at your stack and you are left to make major decisions. They are more willing stay in on straight and flush draws because they either have you covered or have the money to rebuy.

There are lots of other variables between tournament and cash, but I would start out playing low buy-in cash games if you want to learn.

I feel like cash games help a lot when playing post flop. In tournaments, especially when short stacked, you are mostly shoving or folding. The 100BB experience can help at the beginning of tournaments and at the FTs. At the same time, I don't think it's the most important thing to focus on when you first learn poker. It's something you gradually learn after playing a bunch of hands.

I think I'm better at playing tournaments than at cash tables for the simple fact that when you play a tournament both your economy and your stay in the tournament will depend on your good management of your chips, when we play cash, many times we think it's more easy to control our economy, because we can retire winning when we want or losing the minimum amount we want, but this obviously if we know how to control our impulses, most when he loses in his eagerness to recover ends up losing more, and others when they win in their ambition to earn more end up losing what has been achieved and even more.

Tournaments and cash games require completely different strategies to be successful in the long run. Also, cash game players are generally much stronger on average than tournament players.

cash game's are harder I.M.O. A good cash player can play well in tournaments but i dont think the same thing can be said the other way around.

I believe that the same player can play very different cash or tournament. In my case I like to play a long-term tournament where I can generate a type of closed game that favors me at the table and analyze and see my rivals. The good thing is that having a fixed ticket you already know the money you put in and cash tables can lose much more if you do not know how to control. Regards!

Tournament play requires patience and well timed aggressiveness.

Cash games to me are harder because you are putting your bankroll on the line and one bad beat could cost it all.
