Maybe is just me but when I play freeroll turnys and I try to be as careful as I can and not play every single hand I usually wait for higher connectors or good pair.

This is in the early stages mind you

But then all the sudden I notices after I made a few hands the people around me have between 3x-6x my stack im usually around 3000+ chips.

I don't know if they are just getting lucky leads or bluffing even though I thought it wasn't good to bluff early in tournaments I though it was usually
saved for later during those bleeding antes or the bubble.

idk if im too passive or maybe im just missing something else...help?

Not sure how much this helps but in freerolls I usually go all in fast (because FREE roll ) and double up so I can play more comfortably. Sometimes you stack 1 villain, sometimes 5, sometimes you get stacked. At the end of the day, when you do win, you can play your slow game without problems until the later stages

If you are playing a "slow game", you will always be behind 1 or more players at your table who are aggressive. It's ok to play that way early on, but you will have to play more aggressive before the bubble bursts if you want to cash most times.

In freerolls many people don't mind going all in with marginal hands. Your play is ok you won't face elimination threat early but also don't expect to have a massive stack. I would actually recommend the way you play early on but later if your chips get lower you must take chances or risk bubbling out.

In freerolls there is always a lot of all in every hand players and some of them will end up with quite large stacks after the first 10-15 hands. That is the bad news but the good news is that they will almost always be busted in the first hour. It is sweeter if they are yapping it up in chat about how great a poker player they are. It is likely that they are either kids, preteens, or teens when they do this and probably end up punching the wall after they are defeated but I don't like to speculate.

I actually have a strategy of my own, i go all in with any premium hands and 99, TT until i tripple or quadruple up in freerolls. sometimes i get busted, sometimes i win. It has two benefits, either u r busted without wasting time or u have a decent stack to play ur natural game

Most of the people that go all-in on their first hand or two in freeroll tournaments don't even have that good of hands. There's at least one of these players at every table so just weather that storm because even if they win they will most likely end up getting eliminated within the hour. Just play your game and be smart in those types of tournaments and you will more than likely stick around long enough to have a shot at placing for some money if you're fortunate enough to get a few good hands late in the tourney.
