I need to save this as I feel a I post the same thing a lot but here it goes.

To start I would read Phil Gordon's Little Green Book. Its an easy read and will give you easy to understand and use strategies that will help your game.

Next I would read Dan Harrington's "Harrington on Hold-em" series. He does recommend and teach a much tighter game and some feel that it is antiquated by today's game, but 1. - You won't be playing the regular rounders in your games anyway, and 2 - Almost all beginners would benefit from playing a lot tighter anyway. The book is also great because it walks your through scenarios and has you look at hands from many different angles, not just from yours, but also your opponents, which is a key concept that I needed to learn before I started making any money.

After that I would play some games and watch some of the twitch channels that are out there. I will let others recommend as I have not been on the twitch scene for a while, but its great to hear others strategies and thoughts even if you don't agree with them. Take the time to really absorb what they are saying and trying to illustrate before you disregard. Although be careful who you are watching.

Getting a HUD is also a great idea. I do not use one to make decisions during my game cause I prefer to play live and I can't use a HUD in live play. (Perhaps Google Glass or whatever will create one someday) but it is good to evaluate your play after sessions and over MANY hands. You can find your leaks much more easily and then find articles and strategies to work on those parts of your game.

Good luck to you on your poker journey!

I will keep it short and sweet.
The more you play, the more you learn.
You can read all the books in the world,
but the best teacher is experience.
A lot of hands...a lot of losses.
good LUCK on the felt :)

I haven't read any books however pokerstars has a Poker School even for US players.
https://www.pokerstars.com/poker/school/?no_redirect=1

Near the top hear are a bunch of very helpful strategy guides. Just click on poker strategy and your looking for the Beginner Poker tab.

If you want to practice any play money site will work just don't think that what you see in play money happens in real money games. You will see things that normally don't happen.

As for Youtube there are a lot of channels that offer help/advice. One I watch once in awhile is Poker Bank:
https://www.youtube.com/user/thepokerbank/videos

I rarely watch peoples twitch streams so I can't be much help there.

The best way to learn is to read about some of the basics and try it.
