NEVER use more than 5% to buy into anything, and even less if a PLO game. Follow that and you will be fine

First of all, welcome to Cardschat jerohit. Glad you joined. For your question, I ask first how did you get the $1? If it came from playing freerolls, you need to continue to play them until you have enough to play something else. GL to you

jerohit there is a good example from KLDUFF1987. He is playing with good BRM. Are you talking about making a deposit, and letting poker be your income? How much experience do you have? If you don't have a lot of experience, I would forget about letting poker be your profession for right now. But if you think you have the experience, deposit $5000 and play some $3/$6 blinds, or better. In my opinion, that is the only way to make a living from playing poker. At micro stakes you could make a 2nd income if you play like $100nl, but even at that you would need a good BR. But jerohit, it's all going to come down to your experience. Everybody here is going to tell you $5000 is not enough for 3/6 blinds, and they are right. You would need that much and more to play 100nl. Start low instead of jumping off a cliff.

The quick answer to what to do with a $1 bankroll is hope to get really lucky. Variance is going to eat that up most of the time in cash games or tourneys. If you are looking to build from that you are going to have to get vv lucky.

More freerolls.

If you've proven to be a winning player at at least low-to-mid stakes, and you know that you can expect a good month's salary each month, then you'll need at least 50 buy-ins for the stakes you're going to play + at least 6 months of living expenses/emergency money.

Anything less than that: don't quit your day job yet.

Seriously, bankroll management is one of the most important aspects in poker.

I would even say 1 year of expenses just to be safe, because you sound like you are mostly a beginner, which I deduce from the fact that you even asked the question in the first place.

DO NOT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB until;
1. You have 6 - 12 months of money saved up for expenses
2. You understand proper bankroll management
3. You have proven your skills in levels that you can make a living on

My advice will not be that serious. Just to mention that they are all right and that is indeed the case. As others have noticed that you are at the very beginning, if you want to try another tournaments my advice to you is to deposit $20, no more, and act like you lost that money in that you will not be sorry to throw them into the river. If you can so easily jettison a $ 20 do it.

I did that, I lost my $20, and now I am playing freerools, when I manage to make some $1-$3 I play Sit'n'Go and try to make more and then I go to look for some MTT which I can play. When you see how fast you'll lose them then you will be much clearer how much is really needed knowledge, skills and money to deal with this professionally. When others play it looks much easy, especially when you watch on TV. When you see how fast you'll lose that $20 then you will be much clearer how much is really needed knowledge, skills and money to deal with this professionally. When others play it looks much easy, especially when you watch on TV.

Even professional players make bank roll for 6-12 months and for that you need serious money. Stay with freerolls while you get some experience, go on PokerSchoolOnline.com there you can find really good material for learning and also they have beginner bank roll where you can earn some ticket for Sit'n'Go and MTT.

And of course, here you can get a lot of help and be sure to check out page for CardsChat freerolls.

Good luck.
