Hello guys,
I play online for some time, and i really want to try it live, besides few shady places there is grand casino with dress code and all of that :(
Minimum game offered is 100nl in dinars 100din~1.2$
Now i dont have roll or anything atm...
What can i expect there? What should be my approach? Tight is right?
I am always affraid that i would do something stupid, online program does all stuff with chips, antes etc :)
Tbh i dont even know how they speak poker language at table....
Raise,check,fold etc :)
Any tips are welcome!
You can check their homepage and tell me what u think.... Google for grand casino belgrade

Thanks in advance

Definitely try to be friendly at the table.
If you have questions dont be afraid to ask the dealer for help.
Depending on the table, you may see raises of $10 as a common raise. (In US casinos this is mostly standard).

1) Please tip the dealer after each hand you win that goes to the flop. $1 per pot is fine.

2) Larger preflop raises are standard in live games. In a 1/2 game, it's just easier to toss out two red chips to raise to $10 than it is to count out a raise to $7. Don't be afraid to raise larger than you're used to preflop.

3) Keep an eye on player's stack sizes. Online, most players buy in for the max. In a 1/2 game, many of your players will buy in for the minimum. So because of the large preflop raises, and smaller stack sizes, your implied odds hands will go down in value.

No worries since the dealer will do all the work- the counting of chips, moving dealer button, etc.

I think the most important about live is about psychology. You have to play the people and not the cards.

Good luck...

You can first and just sit and watch the other estimate what and how, and then sit down to play himself. Your main task in the beginning did not win a lot of money and not lose a lot by myself.

players are generally friendly at the table esp 1/2. most are recreational with a few regs sprinkled in. the biggest thing is to look up etiquette at the table and don't be embarrassed or shy about asking questions. people will help you. i recently did when i played my first live plo hi/lo game in vegas. online is so much easier, but players were very nice. also you should tip the dealer $1 if the pot is over ~20 or so...not every single flop you see, that's just dumb. for a bigger pot like >100, then $2 is fine. my biggest adjustment was memorizing my hole cards and making sure i kept track of how much was in the pot. online, everything is just there so it was an adjustment for me

Don't rush. The pace of a live game is obviously slower than on-line, so don't feel like you have to make your decisions within a few seconds. This is especially true when you are about to bet and want to make an appropriate sized bet. The math is quick and easy on-line. When you're live, you'd hate to blow a hand because you didn't bet enough (or too much) because you rushed.

If you are transitioning from online poker to live poker,I would recommend making verbal amounts when calling or raising.Look at your cards last when being dealt out and be looking at other players reactions when they look their pocket cards. That way you might pick up any reads from their facial expression on how strong or weak their cards might be.Any questions you have feel free to just ask the dealer.

I suck at poker but here's what I think you should do
1st of all play like you play online
2nd body language : you most likely have a tell,or two, or five (since this is the first time you play ). I have a tip for this : don't look at your hole cards until it's your turn.
3rd if you see someone's hands shaking it means he's got the nuts, fold
4th ask if you can just observe the table for a bit so you get comfortable or just play only premium hands until you get used to this (basically observe the table at first )
5th I think you can really put people on tilt in a live game, while rude I'd seriously consider that
6rh and something I'd try : get a beer, go to the toilet room, pour half of it down the sink, go with the rest to the table, they may well think you're a bit drunk if you get lucky and try to go after you (do this only after you're comfortable with the game ).
7th: don't drink from the other half, seriously

Hope that helps at least a little

The one thing I learned that's different then online is you should always say what you intend to do first before you do it for example if you want to just check say check if your going to call then say call or if your going to raise then say raise before you touch your chips then put them in front of you then push them allin at the same time I learned to always state my action before I act on it
