Study watch what successful players do but to understand why they do what they do you must study and never stop educating yourself on the game.

It's impossible to summarize your whole experience into one piece of advice.

However, if I had to only give one piece of advice (not a summary of my experience), then it would be something that I've been following for a very long time. I was told it when I first started playing and I think, at it's core, it's very solid TAG advice for anyone just beginning or who have been playing for a while.

Call less, raise more, fold most.

Hi Mosheovadi1 and welcome to CC. My one advice is to keep tilt out of your game. It has helped my game 100% and it will for you, because you are in control. If you are not in control of your emotions during a game, you will lose more.

If pick only one for newbies

The way to play poker better and longer is always get Quality Help on time and in time for newbies, eg. a good poker friend, a good forum, or training coach, friendly pro, etc.

First study - then play. The harder game type of the championship you play - the better. But first you should understand what you are doing.

On each hand ask yourself the question: What do I have, what do they have and what do the other players think I have? If you continue to ask this all the time, it will mean you think on every decision and not just blindly play because thats how you've always done it.

You can dream and hope to win money, or you can study, discuss in some comunities, see videos of the pokers, and be one of the best players!
Sometimes i see a lot of players overbetting the pot in the flop, players for example you want to buy a car it's 12k, u go to buy it and say i will give 16k for the car, poker is the same thing, we want the pot, but don't put more money than the pot size!
I personally like one comentary of one member of cardschats, PapaC
"If you believe you can, then you sure can, but if you believe you can't, then you sure can't." Awesome words for all players!
Good luck!

Make the necessary notes. First of all, be extremely honest with yourself. Consider everything - withdrawals, deposits, wins and losses. It is quite possible to do this with a notebook and a pen, of course a minimum.

Play the game. The most experience is at the poker table, not on the books. Those help too, but mostly of the players read them:)

bluff less and value bet more :)

This simple piece of advice helped me tremendously when I was starting out. It sounds so simple, but I got instant results. Like most beginners, I entered way too many pots preflop, likewise bluffed a ton more than I should and I also hardly ever value bet premium hands. I got pocket Aces! Why should I raise preflop or bet the flop? I could trap them or even do a fun check-raise!

Yeah...not the best plan. You'll hardly ever win pots (because even Aces share less equity of the pot in multiway pots when others you let in cheaply can outdraw you) and when you do win, they will be much smaller than if you had value bet more.

There are other reasons to play a solid/straight-forward poker style when starting out, but that tip helped me a lot:

Bluff less and value bet more

Enjoy the game. If it's not fun, you will not develop and improve. Enjoying what you do is more important than money and fame. If you lose the fun or the game becomes addicting, take a break.
