I hear a lot about players being on tilt? What does this mean?
It means that you keep on playing even after beat after beat betting larger and larger on each hand until all your bankroll is gone says Playful. She thinks?
Tilt is a state of being. This can look different depending on the person and the situation that caused it. Most times its mentioned its used to describe someone who is losing in the game or has had something bad happen and is now playing "bad poker". Sometimes you will see the person is angry or frustrated and playing too many hands and trying to make bad bluffs. Other times its when someone gets on a winning streak and also begins to play too many hands. This is because the person gets a feeling of being invincible and unable to lose.
Tilting is when an opponent catches a really lucky card like a 2-3 outer & U start getting mad & start to play really loose just to get back at that player.
According to google the definition is: a state of mental or emotional confusion or frustration in which a player adopts a less than optimal strategy, usually resulting in the player becoming over-aggressive.
Tilting can result from a plethora of things like you losing a hand & another player teasing you, you having a,k vs aq and opponent catches a queen on the end for an all-in pot preflop.
Basically it is when U get mad & start to play bad & play cards based on getting lucky versus being skillful.
Tilt is when you are playing anything but your "A GAME".. it doesn't only happen when there is a bad beat. Anything that makes you play in a way that you normally wouldn't, could be considered tilt.
Yes bad beats do TILT people, but that is not the only way people go on tilt. A good player knows that in the long run variance will eventually be on your side again. Also, as much as it sucks to lose to a 3 outer, they do hit and the cards owe you nothing. So you really shouldn't let bad beats tilt you.
I guess that's where I need to focus my game on, I do get those feelings that the cards owe me and that I should be able to play just about anything like the last guy did.
