Listen to music. Don't play outta your limits. Don't talk to anyone at the table. Have sex. Break something cheap. Yell. Scream. Take a step back from the table. Push ups
Do you multitable? I heard other say it's harder to tilt if you play more than one cuz you're not gonna be as focused on a small loss on one table if you're looking at 20.
Usually it's best to take a break when you are not playing A-game.
Switch for a moment to different activity.
But also depends, each individual may have different cooldown time.
After a series of suckouts in cash game sometimes I also use an approach to change site / network and play elsewhere.
Or may be even to try smaller limits for a while might help.
pass over. is just a game. you are NOT a gladiator who is fighting for his life.
many times my AA was beaten by 34 or 67. what should y do, "kill" myself ? NO.
Best advice - take a break. chill out.
Taking a break, even just for a little while to get a handle on your emotions is the best, IMO. Sometimes making yourself stop and take a break is hard but DISCIPLINE is a huge part of winning at poker.
Walk away from your computer. Like literally walk outside your house, drive to McDonalds or something.
Before, when I went on tilt I would be able to stop playing, close the application and all that, but still be on my computer browsing the internet or something. And then 10 minutes later, I would be like screw it and just keep playing again.
I think physically walking away would be the best, and just come back in a few hours or something.
If you only lost one hand, take a time, go breath fresh air, drink something and comeback to play. However, if you are loosing too many hands and too many money i advise you to stop immediately and comeback other day. Bad days happens to all, the important is to lose minimum at those bad days.
Take a break and come back focused. u need to have a stable brain to be able to maintane the right thoughts u need to be having, including calling, checking and when to fold. making bad plays follow from not thinking straight while being unfocused and going on tilt. Step away for even an hour and come back it will work ! Gl man
To avoid future tilt try to get a better understanding of the variance involved in poker, and use strict bankroll management. Tilt is can also be the result of being results oriented and wanting to win every hand. A big step for me was learning to be happy when I played a hand well, even if I lost it.
know when to stop, regardless of whether you win or lose, the real value of poker player. now I did not recognize this trait in yourself, unfortunately
Experience....I have had so many bad beats and suck outs that now I can just play another hand. It will continue to happen so you just have to get used to it.
