re: Poker & Tightness around the bubble
If the cards are rotten, never think that coasting into the money is not the better option. In bigger tourney's, coasting up the pay ladder is normal. You often can wait for the better opportunities, you often should wait for them.
I can remember more wins (or big cashes) where I cleared the bubble in bottom place, than I can where I went into the bubble in first place and managed to hold on to it.
There is a thing that happens in big tourneys where right after the bubble burst looks a lot like the very first few orbits of the tourney. At the beginning a lot of players are hell bent to build a stack fast, and in the process either bust, or bust many others out. Right after the bubble bursts, a lot of players are so happy to have made the money, and are pressed for time, that they make really agro moves, and die, with smiles on their faces. So often that first ladder rung goes pretty fast and by doing nothing, you make another rung, then another, up the ladder you go till you finally get that premier opportunity you've been waiting for.
