Sometimes when i am playing tournament with more than 3k or 4k peoples, Most of them are saying playing tight like AK,AQ.... and so on, and do build your stack when you hit these cards, and play it aggressively. As you know these cards are very rare if i had QQ and i am raising the pot and flop comes as K x X and it became very difficult to play these cards and i got sucked out!!!

My question is simple, I am playing a very rare hand and these hands are good to raise and i am doing it and losing it.!! What should i have to do..?? and what style of playing should be followed.??

When I play big tournaments, I usually will play the top 10 hands aggressively, depending on how many people are already in the hand will justify how much I raise. A friend of mine who cashes a lot in the 180 man tournaments tells me that if he has aces and it's been raised to him, he just shoves all-in. Probably seeking an early double up.

I will usually limp with pairs up to JJ in any position early on and just hope to hit a set and get paid off. Or if it's a limped multi-way pot, suited connectors.

I don't try to make moves when I have an average-below average stack, I just look to double up. Sometimes opportunities come to win a huge pot. If I get a big stack, I don't just start going like a maniac, I still stick to smart poker but use my observations of my opponents to my advantage and loosen up slightly. Meaning defending my blinds more by calling a raise at the cut off with Q10 suited. Doing this with information about my opponent's playing style in mind.

Later on you can up the aggression when it gets closer to the bubble.

I'm guessing with fields of this size you're playing freerolls?

Here's a good approach for these types of tourneys:

https://www.cardschat.com/freeroll-tournament-strategy.php

In addition to the threads/posts, there is a lot of good info located under the Strategy Articles tab. GL.

Number of entrants sounds more likely to be the micro buyin 'guar.' on Stars.

As with most poker questions....'it depends'. If you're on a really loose/pass. table then by all means limp behind in LP with SC's and all pp's. There are so many factors/situations to consider that it's too difficult for me to put it in a box/black&white answer... ie. in some spots it's you're getting great implied odds to call an MP raise in LP (w position) on SC's if it's the type of player who won't let go of TPTK or an overpr. On other tables it's a huge mistake when there's very aggress. players who are 3-betting regularly.
I can't really give you an overall impression/style of play to use, etc.,... for myself tournament play is so situational & player/table dependent it's too tough to do so (I guess I'm saying you need to be 'adaptable'... have patience, etc.)

sidenote... if you raise up with say KK/QQ and get 2 callers in early levels & an A comes on the flop.. chances are good that your hand is no good.

on live games they are rare but online there are not rare. do play then aggressive raise on a pre-flop to kill the number of players. I raise normaly 4 time the blinds and then if i dont hit my hand on the flop i still play then aggressive by putting a felling bet out there. this way it shows that it going to have to pay to beat you and take control of the table
