I see a lot of people referring to games as 25/nl, 100/nl etc. Does that refer to the bb in a ring game or the buy-in of a SnG? I've also seen 25/nl used to refer to (I think) .10/.25 NL so is it $25 or $0.25? Just curious, thanks.

Most online poker rooms have a max buy-in of 100xBB so $.10/$.25 game would be $25 max buy-in. This has evolved to this game being called $25NL. And so on for $50NL, $100NL, etc. Now some games allow 200xBB and these are called deep stack tables. And of course live you can come across an even larger variety such as kill tables and such. Also, I've only seen one online site that had straddles in their software too.

Just one # refers to the standard 100bb buyin in ring. This confused me when I first joined, I thought, "these guys are playing $25/50 NLHE?"
