I play exclusively 2nl 6 max cash right now and do pretty well, building my way up slowly. Now I have the opportunity to play in some of the forum tournaments and wonder if switching between mtts and cash games might muddle up my strategies too much or is it pretty easy to compartmentalize your game even early on as a player. Thanks!

I feel that MTTs and cash games play a very similar strategy - it is more of a marathon than a sprint in comparison to SNGs but that is my opinion.

I like to play cash games to earn my buy-ins for MTTs. MTTs (vs. cash games) are a different mindset, more than anything else. You can't just pop in and out for example if you need a break. You always need to be comparing your stack size with the big blind size, cuz your strategy changes as that ratio changes. You can't just top up your stack if you hit a bad beat - what you see is what you get.

in mtt some players bets or raises without even having a pair...in cash the bilds doesnt grow (i know this is obvios but it s a very decisive thing in mtt)...in cash players usualy play tight...in mtt the game is a little more aggresive...i think the two are a lot diffrent but you will see for yourself

you play cash games more aggressive because you get the win off that one hand and not over multiple in cash games. In tournament games there is ICM which is the big difference between MTTs and cash. You have to know when to steal blinds in late stage tourny
