What's the general consensus on these? When should one play low, mid, and upper connectors? In cash games? Tournaments? Suited? Position? etc. I don't have a very good view of low/mid suited connectors, but maybe I'm in the wrong here. I see good players play these hands sometimes, but I'm not sure whats behind their decision making. Any advice/recommendations? Thanks.

Personally, I think the way to go is play opposite of everyone else, tight/loose, big cards vs small cards, aggressive vs passive, ect...
I am more likely to call your raise with connecting cards than a min raise or a bunch of limpers. The general theory is that you are going to raise big cards and I'm playing 45s or 67s (which actually even are the best hands against things like AA/KK).

Another positive is that it is easy to get away from 56s when you miss the flop. Hands like AQ,AJ,A10,KQ,KJ,QJ can hit a flop and put you to tuff decisions.

You have to pick your spots. If you have the stack, it certainly can be profitable to call suited connectors (unsuited usually goes in the muck).

Part of their power is from deception/concealed information, for sure. Are they actually statistically the best hands against AA/KK, or are they just considered the best in terms of metagame? In other words, would they have >50% wr if they got it in preflop, or are they just more profitable because of the chance of getting the nuts with unexpected cards?

Statistically, if you are up against AA small suited connectors have the best percentage of winning, almost 23% of the time while a smaller pair is less than 20% depending on the pair. I would suggest putting some hands in a poker calculator, you really need to understand how close hands really are and why some big stack busts you out with 89 when you have AK. He simply just isn't that big of a dog, a lot of players play way too tight. You will also understand the strength of LAG and why its so difficult to play against.
