Depends on how high they are. Lower cards are usually crushed by higher cards. Flushes and straights do happen, but not nearly as often as Aces or Kings being paired. The draws that you flop will often get you into more trouble if they're at the lower end. How many times have you seen flush vs. flush? I've seen it quite a lot, and the one with the AQ is going to cost the one with the 78 a few chips, maybe a lot of chips, depending on how they are played. How many times have you seen straight vs. straight? TJ crushes 65 on a 789 board. The 65789 is going to be hard to let go of, and is going to cost a lot. If you do let go of it, you will probably have put more than a a few chips in the middle before you make that decision.
How many times have you seen limpers, especially multiple limpers raised by the SB? Answer - a lot. It's pretty rare in fact that you are going to get into a hand for just the price of one big blind.
So I can't really agree that suited connectors are all that great a hand to play unless they happen to be AK.
