Since your question was extremely general, I'll offer you a general response: Call with them less often.

Underlined above is 'key'... obviously call more with them when you have 'a feeling' you're gonna hit (not vice-versa) ez game!!

whether or not they hit the particular time you folded is irrelevant, there is no point taking into account stuff that happens after you make your decision, if you want to play suited connectors play them from late position when you dont have any aggressive players behind you, and when alot of people have called giving you better pot odds.

It depends on how well you play and what your image is etc, if you're in general a bad player then just stick to premium hands.

People like phil ivey can make them pay long term by getting better hands to fold and also getting paid when he doesn't hit with them.

i like to be aggressive with them, i usually have a tight image so when i raise, i usually get put on good cards, so if i dont hit the flush or a straight i have a good chance of bluffing someone out of the pot

Looks like you have more to lose than gain with that. Can think of better starting hands to implement that strategy into play. Well unless any two cards will do for you.

and obviously the bluff depends on the player you are playing against for the pot

I think suited connectors are the most over rated hands in poker, you call with them and once in a blue moon you hit, unless there is a multi way pot and it is cheap to call dump them, well thats what I do anyway

Suited connectors are decent IN POSITION. Out of position you'll usually find yourself with a lousy top pair/bad kicker or a draw where, due to your bad position, you have no way of controlling the size of the pot.

sorry i wasn't being clear, I would only raise with suited connectors in late position, never in early or middle, i would flat call though in middle position for the chance to see a flop

I think you are better off just playing suited with a ace or King in your hand than just any 2 suited connectors. That opens up the nut flushes for you. instead of playing 7, 8 suited. You are just asking for trouble if flush hits.

Avoid them in early position or playing them out of position. Try to see the flop as cheaply as possible. Raise preflop occasionally. Don't get wedded to a hand or overplay if you hit medioce stuff like T with a 9 kicker, for example.

Late position, unopened pots.

It helps if the blinds are capable of folding post-flop. If they are calling stations or aggressive, I'd just limp with the occasional raise.

Aggression is good, but at the lowest stakes being too aggressive with suited connectors is spewing coins. It's fine to limp with ace rags suited and suited connectors in mid to late positions at passive fishy tables.

Not a fan, you hit 2 of them on the flop, Open ended, now what CHeck and then what if you get raised, call it, push em all in. Its the same trouble I find myself in when I flush chase too much. plus its pretty obvious you hit a straight (even though someone like me would miss it totally and go damn there was a straight possibility on the board LOL)

Now Im a fan of gapped connectors (suited or not) just because if you do hit, you might be pretty disquised. But If i can stay in on the cheap, but too many of these on the cheap hands start hurting your stack as well. SO Im out to lunch on all this, I know you gotta take chances.

But then I get myself lost, am I better off playing Connectors or low PP's on the cheap and set mine and usually end up with 3 overs on the flop (maybe I need to stay off both), DAMN IT why cant they all just hit if I bet. Like I said before, my wife tell me the only thing that comes out of my mouth while playing poker is :THAT WAS A HORRIBLE FLOP

OP:

If you have a postflop game, pot odds and position you can play them once in a while.

If one of the 3 things isn't true (the fact that you posted the question might suggest #1 not being true) I'd just leave them... see I saved you money.

Everytime you can if the price is right

Suited connectors win a lot. In fact I just lost a hand with QQ.against unsuited 56, after I raised 10 times the bb utg. Dude called with 56 another player called with 55. flop comes 457 of hearts. I check they both bust all in. I fold. The turn was 8 of hearts. dude with 56 catches a straight flush. I'm not saying that is going to happen everyhand I'm just saying it happens a lot.At ten times the bb he should probably not have played them but he did and won.Everyone plays poker different and some players will not agree with me. But I play suited connectors every hand I get them if the price is right period.

Nice Hand! First of all you had to see the flop with that pathetic raise he made. Then when you raised his bet he should of known his AA was no good. there was a flush draw and a straight on the board I personally would have put you on j9. Either way I would have tossed my AA after the turn.
