suggested bankroll

is there a recommended bankroll minimum for the various table stakes?
how much should i have to play at a $1/$2, how much for $.50/$1, how much for $2/$4, etc etc.

for limit holdem it is suggest that u have 300 big bets so if the limit is 1-2, u need 600$ minimum to be comfortable
for nl holdem it is suggest that u have 20 times the max my in for the stake, so for 200nl, u need 4000$ to be comfortable

this is the way to go..don't ever play with your entire bankroll in a cash game simply because you won't make the proper decisions...the same goes for playing in games you can't afford

after all..your going to be alot less likely to bluff with large amounts if your hesitant to lose a big chunk of your stack which happens to be your entire bankroll...your also less likely to call another person's bluff

if at any point the dollars on the table are scaring you...leave the table and go to a lower limit

As pokerstars currently offer a 40% bonus on deposits up to $600, I think I will be depositing $600. And with $120 already in my account, this will leave me with $720.

I guess that leaves me playing at 0.1/0.25 NL, which I think I can handle OK.

Two questions though:

1) only having 180 days to accumulate the number of FPPs for the bonus, is this easily achievable?

2) $600 is alot of money, assuming I follow the 5% buy-in rule, how much of a risk is it that I go broke? I CAN be very disciplined when I want to.

You want at least 20 full buy-ins. If you start at 20 buy-in's though, be prepared to move down quickly if you start to lose. 25-30 buy-ins is much better.

Keep in mind that at $2NL ($.01/$.02) and $5NL ($.02/$.05) unlocking the bonus will be difficult, as it's hard to collect FPP's. You only get an FPP when the pot reaches $8 or more.

So to be specific with your question:
$400NL ($2/$4) would be at least $8k, but $10k-$12k is much better.
$200NL ($1/$2) would be at least $4k, but $5k-$6k is much better.
$100NL ($.50/$1) would be at least $2k, but $2.5k-$3k is much better.
$50NL ($.25/$.50) would be at least $1k, but $1,250-$1.5k is much better.
$25NL ($.10/$.25) would be about $500.
Anything lower than this I think you can get away from the bankroll management rules a bit as play is weak enough that being a little underollled isn't going to matter as much as the weak play will make up for downswings. Of course, if you're losing you should move down quickly.

Dumpy620_84 is on the right track for his bankroll. $720 is plenty to play $25NL ($.10/$.25).
