There are good stories, talking about poker, old masters say that the practice is in fact but the luck that sends in the game. Will always luck? If I study more, would not it be better? because not everything is luck.:icon_big

Luck prevails. There is always going to be a luck rich recreational player on the other side of the table that just wants to see if you really have your game and bet on his own luck.

And they win a lot of times :)

Practice and theory are linked, and both should be studied...

Statistically, the more you play, the less important luck becomes.

You should not stop studying ... it is always good to share in the forums the debates on how a hand was played and how it should be played ... if you do not study you are tight and you will hardly improve your game ...!

Studying is an essential part of poker, as it is with any game in which the player wants to do well. The only problem with poker is the element of luck that is involved, that blows all of the perfect preparation and tactics out of the window from time to time...... but hey! that is poker and probability. As someone once said, you cannot bluff a player who is not concentrating. I would add, you also cannot bluff a player who doesn't really know what they are doing!

The more disciplined I am further I I get a tournament. We must rely on luck when we are short-stack, more if we are deep-stack we apply the ABC poker and win applying some concepts. More factor luck help enough. Is wonderful hit the flop.

The theory is necessary and without it anywhere, of course with practice)
But! And without luck it's also necessary, it is always needed, but unfortunately, it does not visit all of us)

To get down to practice, you need at least a little knowledge of theory. Theory and practice are interrelated. Together they give good result.

No luck, just skill or no skill just luck. Practice and good math skill will help playing perfect poker.

the deal is luck but how you play them can learned through experience or study. over 10 years ago i watched the 'Devilfish' dvd & adopted to online play. within under a year i had grinded my pokerstars account from a freeroll win of £19 to over £260 by starting to win SnG's through knowledge of position at the table to how to play pocket pairs etc. love & luck from Scotland

Luck has a little to do with it

Thing is luck has a little bit to do with it... it's called variance... but the real skill is knowing when your hand is beaten and laying it down or reducing as much damage to your stack or bankroll... on the other hand it's about learning your opponents tendencies as well... so much to learn... so little time lol

Of course, if you want to win in poker, you need to improve your game. You can watch different videos and read some books. This can help a lot to understand and learn more about poker.

In the long run skill is more important, so you gotta keep studying everyday.
I agree with you in some moments of course skill plays a big role in poker, but online I still think that luck is in the first place

I believe that 70% of the game is luck and the rest skill to play, which confirms the game as I'm at 60% when I lose to AA, although this is considered a very strong hand.

do you ever asking yourself why some smart people become teachers (dr/prof have a great theory knowledge), and other who have no time for this just making money and allways in action? knowledge/theory is only a half of what you must to have/know/learn the other part, which is more usefull in real life, is practice!
