Ok, so I just lost my 100$ deposit after begin a stupid ass... pretty much I've been bouncing back and forth between the break even line which I should have been ok with... hell, should have been happy about it. At least I wasn't loosing right? but after getting 40$ ahead and then slowly loosing it back down to the break even line I got really frustrated and I guess I went on tilt.

I took my 100$ and stuck it all in at one table: 1$ BB. Well, I lost it because I thought I spotted a weak player and tried to bluff him out... I'll spare you the embarrassing details of that hand but he did call me and I was forced to do the walk of shame.

Anyway, I added up all my losses over the last few years and it adds up to about 800$ (not terrible for a few year period, certainly not good either though)... Anyway, I opted out of poker for the next week via the responsible gambling thing to stop my tilt from getting worse. My plan is to just make it an even 1k. I'm going to deposit 200$, bank roll it properly this time, and start grinding my way back to the real break even line.

I guess the point of this thread is to ask for any tips. I'm going to be starting out with a 200$ bankroll, what tables should I play at, what weekly goals should I set for myself, what books should I read, etc...

Any help or incite from more experienced players would be really appreciated :)

how many tables are you comfortable playing? You should NEVER up the risk factor to recoup losses. Its the opposite actually. Up it only when you're winning. And you should try to get a system where it doesn't take a week to get off tilt. you should be able to untilt yourself within 1 hour or so. When your playing really long sessions you're gonna run into hands that wanna tilt you. If its bad enough just sit out for a little. Sometimes I'll hop in the pool or watch a show. Just get your mind off it and come back.

Find a high rakeback deal, grind 12/16 tables full ring, break even and make profit through rakeback, 1k should be done in a few months...

I've only been playing one table at a time lately, I think I'll test out 2 next time I'm on and then move up to 4 or 5 eventually. I don't really like doing multitables to much because I like figuring out my opponents ranges and learning to read them and all that. Although, I do see the advantage of playing multiple tables.

Also, I typically play 6-max tables. I like that better then full games because its easier to get a read on all your opponents.

Since you're a breakeven player 1-tabling, you'd very likely be better served to work on your game before trying to multi-table. This may seem patently obvious, but you won't make money over the long term unless you're better than average relative to the opponents at whatever level and in whatever games you normally choose to play. Adding more tables is much more likely to turn you from a b/e player into a loser than a winner.

If you're playing above the lowest buyin levels, you may be able to win without improving your game by dropping down.

Don't get too hung up on that 1k amount , it is just a number you have chosen to shoot at and has no real world relevance. It can likely cloud your judgement.

Be very aware of bonuses , rakeback etc.

You mentioned losing your roll on a bluff , work on this as most of the time that big pot is being built on real hands ,not just air.

Learn not to chase your losses , when it is gone it is gone and no longer yours. The only money that is truly yours is what is in your bank and not in the middle of a pot.BRM is as critical a part of the game as any other part if you are in it for the long haul.Your loss of your whole roll on a bluff at a table you did not have the roll to play can be a lesson learned on this matter.

Patience , it took you a year to lose the money and it is not likely that some little tweak in your game is going to allow you to make it back in a month. Try FR and tighten up your game , bluffing and fancy moves are fun and fine, but if your goal is to hit that mark a steady reliable method will likely suit you better.

And actually > just forget about the money altogether! Make your goal to become a better player instead. The money will look after itself as long as you're practising good BRM, table selection, working on tilt, etc. etc. aka 'improving as a player overall'.

In your OP, you're asking "what games should I play?"
Sounds like you already know the answer of what best suits you.

What weekly goals should you set?
How about > trying to play a certain number of hours/hands. Try to put in a certain amount of study time (ie. reviewing hands, reading material, etc. etc.).
Don't make a goal of trying to win 'x' amount of dollars in a week. Forget about the money! Just work on your game. simple ;)

1. Learn poker.
2. Strict BR management. With 50$ play only at 2 NL untill you reach 150$. If you are unable to do this than you should review 1.
3 When you reach 150 play at 5NL. If you are down 10 Buy-ins than go to 2.
4. So on.

You should strictely respect what i wrote. There are no shortcuts. Houndreds of good players said it and they are right. Do not think you can invent something new

Start out at the lowest buy-in tables your site offers, which should be 2nl or 4nl.

Don't play more than 4 tables of 6max, your goal should be to improve and become a winning player, not to become a breakeven rakeback grinder.

Don't set yourself weekly or even monthly profit goals. Your initial goal should be to improve by studying and implementing new strategies.

Practice strict BRM. For example, move up when you have 30 buy-ins for the next level and move back down if it drops to 20 buy-ins for that level. So for 10nl - move up at $300 BR, move back to 5nl if it drops to $200.

Be prepared for the (likely) possibility that it will take a very long time to reach $1K.

Learn how to manage your tilt, otherwise it can seriously hinder your progress.

Make sure you are getting some kind or rakeback or your site has a reward scheme.

Good luck :)
