Hello everyone, I am an new to CC and this is my first post. Just wanted to ask a question that I'm sure has been talked about a ridiculous amount of times, but I can't seem to find a solid answer. Anyway, I recently started playing $1.5, 9 man turbo SNG online. I am wondering if this is a decent way to try and build a bankroll? And if so, what would be the best approach. I am not necessarily looking for a quick buck, I have patience, but don't want to blow my bankroll. I could also play higher, but I feel like I would benefit more from learning the SNG game at a lower level and working on it for a while before moving up. Any feedback would be appreciated!

ACR has 50 cent games with a guarranteed prize pool of 25 bucks. Winner can get up to 15-20 bucks. Its a pretty decent 'learning' game in my opinion.

As far as learning SNGs, you have to learn that with TURBO SNGs, you will have alot of variance. Meaning, you can lose 10 times pretty easily and not of played bad, you just cant win. So, do you have 30+ bucks to lose online or are you wanting to learn more then you want to win? Personally id stay away from turbos, but thats because im a better player then others.

Thx for the reply

I could definitely play higher, and yes, I have looked into the $25 guaranteed sng on acr. Ive only played about 2-3 and won one of them. They are not hard to beat but take a lot longer and there aren't enough running at any given time to multi-table them. This is why I thought perhaps I could build a bank roll through turbos. But its beginning to look like it isn't worth it to keep playing the turbos. So, what to do?

I do agree with you about the variance int turbos. Its very evident. I want to ditch the turbos all together, but the options seem limited.

If you have patience, I think it would be better if you play regular SnG, like that one with 45 players, open 2-3 tables and keep playing.
Thats what I usually do

I think you can play the daily Big10 tournys if you like that type of tourny, grinding, longevitiy, etc. I think its like 10 bucks for a chance at a 2k prize pool daily and usually more then once a day on ACR.

Or like Yfal said, you can just play the 45 person SNGs, they are more frequent.

You get a better game in regular speed but it's hard to find enough time to dedicate to a bug tourney.

In my opinion the best tournaments to play this limit are mtts of $ 0.55 and sng of $ 0.50.

I am just new at PS, earlier Iplayed 888 Poker. At first after deposit I started to play MTT $ 0.55, but I didn`t profit. To play cash games was my the biggest mistake, I lost more than15% of my bankroll) Now I`m plaing $1.50 SnG turbo 9 players. I find pleasure in it and make profit:) good luck! I`m glad to meet you in this tables:)

If you let your BR determine what MTTs or sng you can play, you will be better off. At BCP I play more cash at 10nl than anything else because the MTT are to long, and I've never done good in sng, but at cash, and most of the time, I can walk away with some profit. I just like playing, so if I only win $10 a day, that's good enough for me. GL to you.

Well, i am not sure that by playing smaller buy ins you will learn so much...as buy ins grows, players and play are complictly diferent..its ok to play those tournaments, but do no think that you are too good if it starts well

That's so true. I usually play SnGs and MTTs under 1$ and I was doing fine, when I won a satellite for the big 4,40...I felt a big difference

Much depends on the size of your bankroll. For games with a buy in $1.5 bankroll should be at least $150. If it is less than $1.5 bankroll high rate

Whats your BR? and your cash %? these are very helpful indicators to see where you should be playing, but 0.55 + 0.50 sound good to me (SnG, MTT) - 1.10 if youre running good

I personally like the 100x rule, I divide my bankroll by 100, and that is my limit.

I think it's better to play 6 max, play clean. other players will knock themselves:)

I think that most important for starting player is first to choose game format they enjoy playing. After that you should consider how to use your bankroll: if bankroll is too small to play games that you enjoy and you beat, it's better to take more risks and reload later if you bust but if you have enough money to keep it conservative enough to keep chance of busting at 10% or less.

I guess that with 1,5$ 9 man turbo SNG you should first check to get a good rakeback-deal and check that you don't play too much rake (there are games that are extremely to hard beat with good ROI% even at the lowest levels due to rake).

I agree with the first poster saying that the $.50 ACR On Demand $25 Guarantees are a good way to go.
I recommend late registering in the third or fourth level. (closes at the 6th)

I play 1.5 9-man sang turbos and so far for me they have been unprofitable. Maybe you should try the longer tournaments, such as 45 or 90 man. If you are doing well and making a profit you should continue with it.

Deep cash games and Regular / Deep single table tournaments would be your best bet for lower variance games.

Hyper turbos and etc. have a lot more variance.

Turbo actually has ZERO effect on variance what-so-ever. What does is number of players, game (texas holdem vs omaha, ect...) and nl vs limit vs pl

Turbos I think are terrible, takes away from true game play, it forces you to go outside of your hand range which may be uncomfortable for a beginner, but to each their own

good luck

name of post is beginner bankroll...did you have a bankroll question? never said what it your BR was....typically have 20 buy ins if playing sngs - maybe 50 if you are new to poker - in the end you have to cash 1 of 3 to be profitable so.....

As you write, patient is needed. Better start from lower buy-ins, like 0.10, 0.25 and then go to 0.50, 1.0 and higher.
